To inculcate a sense of responsibility, create awareness about the Constitution of India and to commemorate the birth anniversary of the ‘Father of Indian Constitution’, Dr B R Ambedkar, a special assembly “We,  The People of India” was conducted by the students of class V B on April 12, 2017 for the Primary Wing. The assembly started with a positive thought which inspired the students to take on responsibilities in order to get success in life. It was followed by a session on vocabulary enrichment in which students introduced words related to constitution and gave sufficient practice for their spellings and usage so that the words become a part of their language. This was followed by a Skit presentation on the life and work of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in the making of our constitution. The presentation also aimed at sensitizing the students about importance of maintaining the monuments of our country, keeping the surroundings clean, thus valuing the rich heritage of our nation.

Blue Bells is a premier co-educational institution based on a strong value system that believes in inculcating in the children the resources that will endure lifelong.  As a true reservoir of quality education, the school strives towards holistic education in an active and dynamic learning environment. The foundation stone of the school was laid on 25 October 2001 and the First Academic Session started on 10 April 2003. To commemorate this day, Founder’s Day was celebrated with utmost zeal and enthusiasm on April 10, 2017.

The young Blue Bellians of Pre-Primary Wing contributed effectively and planted sapling in and around school in a plantation Drive – ‘EACH ONE PLANT ONE’.  Another  highlight of the celebration was the concern of the students in raising social and environmental issues. The Heritage & Eco  Club of the Senior  Wing of the school along with Class V students in the morning took out a Rally to acquaint the people around on the conservation of resources along with the improvement in the quality of air around and sensitize everyone on the importance of  ‘CLEAN CITY GREEN CITY’.

The celebration started on a spiritual note as Hawan was performed by  Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati , esteemed Director and Dr. Alka Saxena , Deputy Director ( Health & Wellness), BBGS along with  Principal, Vice Principal ,  faculty members and the young Blue Bellians. The students presented a short and crisp Morning Assembly tracing the history of the school from its origin to the niche it has created for itself in the last fourteen years  under the able leadership of Director Ma’am and all well wishers. Creatica, the mouthpiece of the  emotions of young Blue Bellians was released by Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati, revered Director, BBGS to mark the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Madam wished all the Blue Bellians a stupendous career and contended life. Ma’am prayed to the Almighty to give tremendous strength to all so that we move from one pinnacle of achievement to other and create a wonderful world with ecstatic pleasures.

Yesterday is but a dream, tomorrow but a vision. But today well lived, makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope. It was to renew the vision of our founder, Shri B.D.Gulatiji that Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School celebrated the Founder’s Day on April 10, 2017 .

To mark the significance of the day, the Nursery students came together in the plantation drive and planted various fruits and flower-bearing saplings within their school premises. Gardening is healthy, fun activity for children. Children develop new skills and learn about nature from growing more plants. Every student of class Nursery participated in the sapling plantation activity and enjoyed performing the same.

LEMONADE MAKING ACTIVITY

Our five senses allow us to enjoy the world around us -- the taste of our food, the sound of music, the beauty of a sunrise, the softness of a cat's fur, and the fragrance of a rose.

Class II of Primary Wing of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School organised a “Lemonade Making” activity for the students in the school premises as a part of the self help skills on April 10, 2017.

The activity provided  hands-on experience to the students enabling them to understand the sense of touch and taste .This kind of experiential learning gave them an opportunity to differentiate between the sweet , salty and sour tastes. It was a fun filled activity for the students which also helped to inculcate the values like sharing and teamwork.

AN EDUCATIONAL TRIP TO JODHPUR

Learning is a part of growing and hands-on experience provides the platform for enriching the knowledge learnt from books. To make students aware of the rich heritage and culture of our country, a four day trip to Jodhpur- the Sun City was organized from April 10 to April 13 , 2017 to explore and enjoy the cultural heritage of Rajasthan.

The students  visited Umaid Bhawan palace where they saw the beautiful architecture on the walls of the palace. They also were enthralled to see the collection of Vintage cars in the Royal palace. After lunch, the students were taken to Osian Resort where they enjoyed Camel rides and Jeep rides. The students also enjoyed the beauty of the sand dunes and played on it joyfully. In the evening they thoroughly enjoyed the folk music of Rajasthan and danced to the lilting tunes sung by the singers. They returned to the hotel after dinner tired but thrilled by the experience.

The students visited the Mehrangarh fort on the second day . They looked with awe at the imposing and towering walls and the huge gates. The intrinsically crafted paintings on the walls along with the various palanquins, armours, the huge canon, canon ball imprints on the outside wall were a great source of attraction to the students. They also visited the lake near the fort on their way back to the hotel. After a short shopping trip to the market , they boarded the train back to Gurgaon.

The picturesque beauty of Jodhpur left an indelible mark on the minds of the students who returned back to school invigorated after a fun filled memorable trip.   

EMPOWERING THE PARENT SCHOOL INTERFACE: ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

The school aims at holistic education of the students catering to an all-round development of the personality.  To apprise the parents of the students of Class XI about the working system of the school, an Orientation Programme was organized on  April 8, 2017 . The Orientation was a gateway to apprise all the respected parents about ideology, pedagogy and teaching methodology imparted in the institution. It was also a means to draw attention towards diversified activities blended with academics to equip the students to satisfy the demands of the day.

 After the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, the formal welcome to the august gathering was given by Mrs. Anjali Nagpal, Principal of the school. Mrs. Arpita Acharya, Vice Principal of the school apprised the parents about the Code of Conduct, Punctuality, Transport, Dress Code, Regularity , I-Card and the details of the CBSE Registration . The faculty members of Class XI & XII talked about the Evaluation & Assessment System and  Assessment of Speaking & Listening Skill.  The parents were also updated about the latest ventures of the school to provide a unique learning platform to the students. Ms. Shreya, the school Counsellor apprised the parents about the mission and vision of The Health and Wellness Programme spearheaded by Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy  Director ( Health & Wellness), BBGS  , which ardently  focuses on  to prepare a child  so that he/ she is   physically  and emotionally empowered along with strengthening the belief that ‘SCHOOL IS A SAFE & SECURED PLACE’.   .

 It was an enriching experience for all.

STUDY SKILLS FOR CLASS XI

The theme for this module emerged due to some concerns that were shared by the students on the change they witnessed from Class X’s CCE pattern to Class XI’s studies that appeared overwhelming for them. This was the resultant of the change in the course structure, study time and the way of studying. In sync with the same, an ardent need was felt by Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS and her Resource Center team to take  this theme  with the students of class XI so that they feel more prepared to deal with the changes around. The interactive session was taken by the School Counsellors Ms. Shreya Kumar and Ms. Renu Khare on April 6, 2017 which witnessed the enthusiastic participation of the students.

As Class XI forms a solid foundation for Class XII, therefore, the beginning of new academic session was the most  appropriate time to discuss certain important study skills which  the students can use to plan, study and prepare themselves throughout the year.  The key points discussed in the sessions with the students were about the changes and how they feel about them. The PQRST (Preview, Question, Read, Self-study and Test) technique of studying was discussed in detail wherein the students were shared about the importance of studying in a systematic manner to retain information. Some points about organizing themselves were also shared with them. Besides that some hands on tips on note taking, note making, academic reading skills, and writing skills were discussed. A befitting close to the session was the discussion on the importance of a study friendly environment where prominence was given on understanding their pattern of studying and focusing on their learning styles. 

TURNING OVER A NEW LEAF :  ASSEMBLY  ON THE OPENING OF NEW SESSION

“A new day , new energy , new ideas and its’ time to bring in some sunshine to let each shine through in their own special way”

This year marks the brave embarking of the school into another quarter of a century.  It also ushers in the challenges of preparing the young people to live and work in the information age. Our younger generation needs to be prepared with the abilities to think critically and to create genuine, and to communicate and cooperate effectively with people from different backgrounds and cultures. A student should be continually exposed to new knowledge and gain insight into the future, the trends, the opportunities and new thinking which is opening up new vistas for the Generation Y.

In sync with the same objective, the first assembly of the Academic Session 2017-18 on April 5, 2017,  was presented by Class XII A on the theme- ‘REALISE  YOUR UNIQUE QUALITIES’. All the assembly features were weaved around this theme and was appreciated by all.

The Primary Wing also had the inaugural Assembly conducted by Class V on the theme “ A New Beginning”. To invoke the blessings of the divine the assembly started with a “Ganesh Vandna”.  Students presented a skit on the “Journey of a Seed” correlating it with human life, to grow up as responsible and healthy individuals we must have few essentials in our life like healthy lifestyle, discipline , hygiene and respect towards one and all. The students were also apprised about the five thumb rules to be followed in the school

A trophy was also presented to the Primary Wing by revered Principal Ma’am on behalf of HelpAge India to appreciate the contribution of the students towards a community outreach programme .

The assembly was well appreciated by all and closed on a promising note that we should not be deterred by the failures in life but take them as stepping stones to success .

ACQUAINTING THE PARENTS WITH CHANGES : ORIENTATION PROGRAM

Education fosters the development of inner freedom and helps human mind to move towards self-analysis, self-reliance and self awareness. Blue Bells believes in imparting knowledge to its students so that they are confident in this global world of competitions with the optimum insight of all forms of knowledge attainment with the blending of oriental and occidental methodology of teaching.

The school considers parents to be the greatest resource and value partners in providing holistic education to the students. To acquaint the parents about the teaching methodology, psycho-pedagogy and working methodology of the school, an Orientation Program was organized on April 1, 2017 for the Classes VI to X.  The Program began on an auspicious note by evoking the blessing of the Almighty with the ceremonial lighting of Diya.

The facilitators’ briefed the parents on the latest CBSE updates including changes in the pattern of evaluation of both scholastic and co-scholastic subjects, integrated and thematic planning in various subjects along with value education. The members reiterated the need for the constant support of parents to achieve milestones. The school Counsellor, Ms. Shreya gave an insight into the Health & Wellness Progamme , whose innovative modules were implemented from November 2009 onwards under the  inspirational leadership of Dr. Alka Saxena , Deputy Director ( Health & Wellness), BBGS.

The parents were also informed about extended facilities provided by the school like : Transportation , I-cards, SMS, E-Mail , etc. The school urged the parents to actively participate in the Teaching-Learning discourse and be exemplary in their conduct and behavior.

LEARNING IN THE LAP OF NATURE : AN ENRICHING   TRIP TO GOA

“To Travel Is To Live As It Helps In Getting To Know Yourself By Facing New Experiences.. .“

To create awareness among the students about the pristine beauty of Nature and to arouse in them the spirit of enquiry and adventure, a six -day long adventure trip  was organized to Goa, The Land of Scenic splendor,   a picturesque place in the lap of Nature with the exquisite beauty of water forest all around from April 1 to April 6, 2017 . Forty-one students accompanied by four teachers embarked on this exciting excursion.  The students were actively involved in myriad fascinating activities like water sports including Para -Sailing, Banana Ride, Motorbike Driving and Dolphin ride.

 The students thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the beaches where they were really excited to see the waves and played with them joyfully. They felt exhilarated by participating in various team-building activities in the evening involving a unique blending of both physical courage and mental stamina. The exceptional beauty of different beaches and the refreshing and virgin appeal of Goal left an indelible impression on the minds of the tour members.  The most exciting part of the tour was the Cruise on which members were taken to the meeting point of Arabian Sea and Mandovi River. It was a magnificent feeling of moving on water in the evening where everything appeared as picture perfect and a divine gift of God. The most exceptional part was the clean and neatness of Goa that captured the heart of all the members Finally the tour members returned to school rejuvenated and re-vitalized, at the end of an invigorating and memorable experience.
