Solar Observation with safe methods

An Astronomy workshop was conducted for students of III to VIII standard of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School recently to teach them how to observe the sun safely and enjoy different shades of sun when it is viewed through solar filters. There were 49 students who attended this workshop.

Highlights of the workshop were:

(i) Making a solar filter for a telescope and a hands on experience of aligning a telescope towards sun.

(ii) Observing the sun through a telescope using own handmade solar filter and projection method.

(iii) Using Ball projector, Pinhole Projector and solar view goggles.

(iv) Take away home kit, Space cap, Solar View goggles and Educational Resource Handbook.

It goes without saying that workshops such as these make any subject more interesting and appealing and help the children learn new concepts through play.

LEARNING UNBOUND-CHAPTER 2019-20

  Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, Sector 10, Gurugram organized ‘Learning Unbound-Chapter 2019-20’ on February 7 & 8, 2020 in the school premises. It was a celebration of diversity with integration of STEAM which is the forte of the school. Learning Unbound, a celebration of learning focused on ingraining the students with awareness and a sense of pride for the diversity of their own culture. It encouraged them to draw the attention of the people to become environmentally friendly by being the change. The theme of the carnival was embracing diversity and celebrating STEAM. The students presented STEAM based activities and projects showcasing integration of all the subjects.They were encouraged to develop a scientific fervour and an attitude of research mindedness so that they develop the qualities of analytical and critical thinking. Learning Unbound is solely driven by students of Classes III-V with total participation. It successfully instilled an attitude in young students for comprehending the interdependence of various concepts by hands-on experiences and in bringing together engineering and technology to further learning. The Event was conceptualized by the Learning and Development Space under the inspirational leadership of Madam Soumya Gulati, Deputy Director (Academic Development and Innovations), BBGS. Ma’am fully engaged herself in the activities performed by the students and appreciated their efforts. The parents turned out in large numbers and were astonished by the confidence of the students. They appreciated the concept of the event and its presentation. They were enthralled by the display of the activities by the students which showcased the concepts learned in Classes III to V. Visual and Performing Arts, Library & Language along with melodious choir presentation, theatrical and dance presentations filled the event with beauty and charming aesthetics of our cultures and held the audience spellbound. The Sports pavilion aimed at dynamic and static balancing as a fundamental motor skill which are the building blocks for fitness and engagement in physical activity and aid all aspects of the learning process. The Home Science Department made a fine display of art and craft through beautiful hand painted handkerchiefs, coasters and laid a wonderful spread of delicious food like pizza, cupcakes, corn chat, and ice-cream for parents. Students demonstrated their learning of different concepts through still models, working models, charts and posters which were made by them. They very confidently explained the scientific concepts on which these models were based. Some of the models were Water Treatments Tower, Rain Water Harvesting, Energy in Desert along with other STEAM based models. The Learning Unbound increased students’ knowledge about diversity and climate change and helped them to know how developing an eco friendly attitude would benefit all in the long run. A kaleidoscopic view on Value Education was done through School Cinema, an innovative film-based module that affirms life skills and value, under the aegis of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director Health & Wellness Programme BBGS. The THOTS corner included thinking games for all which were conducted by specially trained students. The ICT enabled games and Robotics arena showcased the technical aptitude of the students. The corner was put up innovatively under the leadership of Ms. Anshuka Aneja, Deputy Director –IT, BBGS. Robots designed by the school tech geniuses were the centre of attraction for all. The parents’ appreciation of the event reflected that Learning Unbound had left an indelible imprint in their hearts. The School Management graciously encouraged the students for their wonderful display. The encouraging presence of the parents and the ardent support of the school management and leaders during the event along with perfect team work and coordination proved a testimony to the fact that Blue Bells provides education that inspires confidence. Forewarned is Forearmed.

The officials of the Central Board of Secondary Education have introduced new rules for students of Class 10 and 12. It is important for each student who is appearing for AISSE or AISSCE- 2020 to be aware of CBSE new rules. Knowing new rules will help the candidates to be aware of the list of changes which have been incorporated by the board officials. In the wake of same, Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School organized a workshop not only for the students but also for the parents as well on February 1,2020. The august gathering was addressed by the Vice-Principal Madam Arpita Acharya who explained every point in detail. The students were told about the do’s and don’ts during the exams, the parents were advised not create unnecessary pressure on the students. Later, the faculty called the students on the stage and gave them sample answer sheets to ensure that the students have understood every bit of the session. The response of the parents was overwhelming. Their queries were properly addressed. At the end the parents thanked the school management for this imperative session.

Staff Picnic

The teaching and non-teaching staff of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School recently spent a wonderful day at a picnic organised by the school management.

The warm and sunny day was filled with special games, activities, music, dance and loads of good food, all of which were enjoyed at the beautiful Surajgarh Farms.

Basking in the sun, breathing in fresh, clean air and enjoying the spectacular surroundings gave everyone an opportunity to relax and provided a much needed respite from their hectic schedules.

Save the last Drop

“Our wings are small but the ripples of the heart are infinite.”

These words are apt for the students of the Primary Wing of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School as they have taken the responsibility of creating awareness among people regarding the massive depletion in resources of water under the ambit of ISA Activity. The name of the project is “Save the last Drop.”

The Students of Class III and IV observed the usage and wastage of water in their daily lives closely in January’2020 .The students then probed and a group discussion was done that brought about the awareness about water wastage. These students took on the responsibility of sensitizing their peers through a mime on water as a valuable resource.

During the ISA project the importance of the role of changemakers and showcasing an environmental sustainability concern was also done through a street play, highlighting the need for ways to conserve water. The presentation was very thought provoking and effective. The school students were moved by the message of the play and took a pledge of being responsible towards nature and its invaluable resources.

Ms. Geetika Batra along with her team of students thanked everyone for being a great audience and hoped they showed responsibility in doing the rightful things.

BASANT PANCHAMI CELEBRATION

The joyous festival of Basant Panchami heralds the advent of spring. It is also a festival dedicated to the goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, language, music and all arts.

To celebrate the arrival of spring and seek the blessings of the goddess of knowledge and wisdom, special assemblies were held at Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School on 29^th and 30^th January by the students of class Nursery to Vth. Both students and teachers offered prayers  to the goddess.

Nursery to Class II students came bedecked in radiant shades of yellow, the colour that marks spring. At the special assembly, they commenced the programme with the chanting of the Gayatri Mantra and the school prayer. This was followed by a talk and a poem connected to Basant Panchami.

In the assembly held by Classes III to V, the programme began with a devout rendition of the Saraswati Vandana. Hindi teachers Ms Meenu Duharia and Ms Kanchan followed this up with an informative session in which they narrated fascinating stories on the celebration of this festival.

Through a beautiful and graceful dance display, students expressed their devotion towards the Goddess, often seated on a white lotus, who symbolises light, knowledge and truth and leads humans down the path of insight and wisdom. They also presented a mime and a street play which shared a very strong message of saving the most valuable resource on the earth - water.

To further mark the celebration of Basant Panchami, students brought in yellow-coloured food.

The 71st Republic Day.

We all know that India's declaration of Independence was signed on 15th August 1947 and the constitution which was written for independent India came into effect on January 26, 1950 but the dream of a free, fair and happy nation has still not been realised to the fullest and in order to get young Blue Bellians acquainted with the history of our nation which is marked by the blood of those great martyrs who died defending it, our School celebrated 71st Republic Day with great pomp and splendour. The colour and mood of our Republic day became more vibrant and livelier when it was teemed with SPORTS DAY.

Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati, hon’ble Director of Blue Bells group of Schools was the chief guest of the occasion. Madam hoisted the National flag, the symbol of our National pride and identity and the program started formally.

Indeed, it was a colourful celebration consisting of patriotic poems, Street Play, thought provoking speeches, fun races and what not. The star attraction of the program was Parents’ participation. Our Sports department didn’t leave any stone unturned to organise some special sports activities for the parents and their participation was really praiseworthy.

At the end, vote of thanks was proposed by Madam Chandan Dhawan, Assistant Director( Academics and Administration). The parents and School leadership praised the efforts made by the students and faculty. All in all, it was a day of fun and frolic for everyone, replete with spirit of Nationalism.

NIIT QUIZ

A challenge of minds 'Quiz Competition' was conducted by NIIT on 17/1/2020 in Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School. This unique initiative by Blue Bells aimed at bringing elements of fun, excitement and creativity through the spirit of competition in the difficult subject i.e. Mathematics. The objective of the event was to make the students implement the philosophy of imagine, investigate and interact.

It was a cut throat competition and the enthusiasm of the students was really praiseworthy. It was Team Beta comprising of Vyom Gupta (VI),Rakshita Bhalla (VII)and Manoj Pradhan (VIII) who lifted the WINNERS' Trophy.

Sarang-The Divine Tale of India

In pursuance of our mission to create sensitivity towards our rich legacy of ancient wisdom and to appreciate its various moods & genres, Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School  organized  its Annual Day Cum Prize Distribution Function for the students of Classes Nursery to grade II entitled 'SARANG - DIVINE TALES OF INDIA' on December 18, 2019 which included a series of thematic performances ranging from devotion to valour along with Felicitation (Awards to young achievers) Swaranjali-Musical Presentation and many more. Sh.Kamal Pruthi ,Founder of “Museum Theatre Company’’ and recipient of 8 international scholarships presided as the Chief  guest of the celebration. In his short but effective address, he whole- heartedly praised the efforts of the students and teachers, the importance of Teachers in students’ life and uniqueness of every child.

Annual report was also released and read by Ms. Rima Gaekwad , Primary Wing In charge.  The most memorable moment of the function was Sarang-The Divine Tale of India, an effort to empower young minds through the treasures of our rich culture.
