Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School Cherishes Celestial Sojourn

Today was an overwhelming day for all the Blue Bellians when we assembled in the Seminar Hall to pay homage to a great visionary Late Shri B.D.Gulati Ji, Founder Chairperson of Blue Bells Group of Schools .The students sang hymns House-wise and remembered the pious soul reverently whose life was no less than an austerity and selfless service. The contribution and presentation of all the Houses was praiseworthy. It was heartening to see how our youngsters paid homage to the Late Chairperson Sir. The program lasted for one hour and was cherished by all. At the end our revered Director, Dr.Saroj Suman Gulati shared her memoirs and invoked the students to follow the footprints of the pious soul.

Children’s Day Assembly

Fun, frolic, entertainment - these are some of the befitting words to describe Children’s Day Assembly which was held on November 18, 2019. The assembly came as a complete surprise to students as it was presented by their teachers. Students were highly amused to see their teachers reading the news, introducing new vocabulary, reciting poems, singing, dancing and acting. The teachers did not leave any stone unturned to make the day a very special one for their dear students. 

EMPATHY BUILDING FOR CLASS IX

We have gradually seen a change in our society with more and more people increasingly focusing on themselves and values and emotions taking a backseat. Keeping in mind the impact and effect such a change has on young minds the Health & Wellness Resource Center of Blue Bells Group of Schools has developed a module on “Empathy” for students of Class IX.

The interactive module, developed by Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS and team of counsellors and content developers at Resource Centre, Ms. Renu Khare and Ms. Shreya Kumar, is divided into three sessions.

The first session, conducted in September, aimed at helping students recognise their feelings and emotions, was conducted by Life Skills Facilitator Ms. Lakshmi Hariharan.

The focus of the next two sessions was to help students view others’ perspective and develop skills for empathetic listening and empathetic responding. These sessions were conducted by Ms. Shreya Kumar, School Counsellor in the months of October and November.

A range of methodologies including storytelling, role-plays and videos were used to make the sessions more engaging and interactive.

The Group strongly believes in the socio-emotional well-being of children and the Health & Wellness Programme constantly works to develop and create sessions and modules that are informative and help students develop the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions.

SENSITIZING STUDENTS ON SAFETY: WORKSHOP ON SAFE TOUCH

With a vision to sensitize and aware the young Blue Bellians about their personal safety, sessions on Safe Touch were planned and prepared by the Health & Wellness Resource Center Team under the mentorship of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS.   These sessions were taken with the students of Classes III to VIII in different time slots by the members of Health & Wellness Team in the month of September 2019 to help them understand personal safety and ways to keep themselves safe.  

The focus of the session was to make students aware about the personal zones of their bodies for their safety. Difference between safe & unsafe touch, adopting safety measures like- ‘Say No’, ‘Scream’, ‘Run for Help’ & and ‘Tell’ a trusted adult (Like, Parents, Teachers & Counsellors) were also shared with them. To help the students understand the concept, an effective discussion on ‘Stranger Safety’ was undertaken, wherein students shared their concerns and views. The session was summarized by showing age appropriate videos to students on safety, suggested by the CBSE and the Gurgaon Police.

The students found the workshop to be informative and felt that they were better equipped now to face these challenges.

Back to School series

The ‘Back to School’ series,a unique endeavor to acquaint parents with new methodologies of teaching and learning ,is an initiative of educationist Ms. Soumya Gulati, Deputy Director (Academic Development & Innovation), Blue Bells Group of Schools.

This year parents of Pri-Primary Wing were enlightened with a Reading and Writing Session that focused on understanding of Language Learning Skills and capabilities. And also had the opportunity to Interpret Numbers through FUN with Number Session.

Parents enjoyed playing many fun-filled games and activities,and were delighted with the  'Gallery Walk' which exhibited student work.

Parents appreciated the active learning series through exploration, innovation, play and live experiences.

Mrs. Rima Gaekwad, Wing Incharge Primary Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School thanked parents and teachers for the engaging session.

Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School Celebrates its 19th Foundation Day

An extremely important day in the school calendar, Foundation Day gathers all members of the school community (management, staff and students) together to commemorate the school founders as well as all those who have been instrumental in its growth and development over the years. 

There was an atmosphere of celebration through the day as we all gathered together to mark our 19th Foundation Day. Sounds of gaiety reverberated through the corridors and the entire school premises were abuzz with students participating in different activities and events and. All activities were specially designed to provide a platform to all Blue Bellians to showcase their creativity and talent. 

With the Foundation Day coinciding with Diwali celebrations, the day began with a student rally for a Green Diwali. This was followed by an inter-house Rangoli competition, a special assembly conducted by classes VI to VIII, a dance presentation and a skit ‘Save Water’. In keeping with tradition and to encourage students to stick to remember their roots, a ‘havan’ was organised as part of the celebrations. The main attraction of the day, however, was a special film that showcased the history of the school and which was emotionally touching for all students. 

The evening concluded with the winners of the MTNL Health Mela being presented with their Prizes. 

The untiring efforts of the students and teachers were lauded by Mrs. Soumya Gulati, Deputy Director, Academic Development and Innovation, Blue Bells Group of Schools and Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director, Health and Wellness, Blue Bells Group of Schools while addressing the gathering of students, staff and management. Founder Director Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati also congratulated each member of the Blue Bells family on this memorable occasion and extended warm Diwali wishes to all.

SAFE DIWALI CAMPAIGN: A PROUD INITIATIVE  OF THE HEALTH & WELLNESS PROGRAMME, BBGS  

Diwali, the festival of lights, celebrates the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. Lamps are lit on this day not just to decorate homes, but also to communicate a profound truth about life — when the darkness within is dispelled through the light of wisdom; the good in us wins over the evil. In the recent years, extravagant celebrations have not only put a great strain on the environment, but have also put people’s health at stake. While these celebrations may seem fun, their far-reaching consequences are not. Air pollution levels rise to dangerous levels, energy and food wastage increases exponentially, plastic packaging and cracker debris litters the roads and several people and animals suffer physically.

Keeping these environmental, health & safety factors as a major concern while celebrating the festival of light,  Health & Wellness Resource Center Team  prepared a module on Safe Diwali for the students after thorough research with all the statistics and verifying data under the inspirational guidance of  Dr. Alka Saxena , Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS. The module was taken up for Classes III to XII in Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, Sector 10, Gurugram from October 24, 2019 to October 25,2019, by Peer Educators of classes VI- XII, in Special Assemblies conducted on the theme of Diwali.

The objective was to enable the students to feel and internalize the values and sensitize everyone towards the issue. To make it more interactive, interesting and absorbing, the entire session was presented in form of a Talk Show wherein the students were apprised about ‘How To Celebrate A Safe And Green Diwali’ by  covering   the minutest details  like :

·         The present way of celebrating Diwali and its harmful effects, (Supported by a video)

·         The consequences of children working in cracker factories . environmental & health hazards of not only crackers  but also adulteration and generation of waster of flowers, gift wrappers etc

·         Pollution and other environmental factors

·         Harmful effects on humans  as well as animals during Diwali

·         Wasteful expenditure

·         Adulteration , over consumption of sweets and tips for dealing it.

·         Safety tips to follow during Diwali (Do‘s and Don’ts)

The sessions further helped the students to think deeper and understand the true essence of celebrating Diwali and propelled them  to review the situation in a different light. The students were urged by the team TO SAY NO TO CRACKERS  and to celebrate a Safe & Green Diwali.

It was an earnest attempt by the Health and Wellness Team to create sensitivity on the issue along with creating an understanding the real essence of celebrating Diwali.

Cyber safety workshop

There is no denying in the fact that Computer-Technology is a double edged sword-beneficial as well as detrimental but the prior knowledge of possible dangers gives us tactical advantage. In order to keep our students safe and secure from Cyber threats and to protect networks, devices, programs, and data from attack, damage, or unauthorized access, Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School organized a workshop on Cyber Security on October18, 2019 on the occasion of Global Cyber day. Mr. Biswajit Das and Ms. Mridul Gupta from KPMG constituted the resource Team. They explained the students in the simplest way possible about the functioning and modus operandi of the hackers, the common mistakes we often do unknowingly and the recent Cyber attacks. The students’ participation and response was commendable. The resource team explained patiently the do’s and don’ts while using Internet. After the session, the students raised their queries which were well addressed by Mr.Biswajit and Ms.Mridul .At the end, the school leadership thanked the eminent guests for sparing their valuable time and enlightening our students.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLY ON JOY OF GIVING

‘Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all. Education to be complete must be humane.’

Keeping the above thought in view, care is taken at Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School to ensure that   students are given sufficient opportunities to inculcate humane values which in turn helps to develop them into caring and empathetic individuals.

Soaking in the spirit of sharing and caring, ‘Joy of Giving’ was celebrated with the students of ‘Spreading Smiles Gyan Kendra’ a preparatory school for slum children in  Nathupur, Sector 24, Gurugram.  The objective of the assembly was to inculcate the values of sharing, caring, sensitivity and empathy in the students.

The programme was held under the aegis of  Health & Wellness Programme of the school, spearheaded by

Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS on October 16, 2019.

 Ms. Chandan Dhawan, Assistant Director Academics and Administration, accorded a warm welcome to the gathering. She appreciated the efforts of the Spreading Smiles Teachers who were engaged into a noble cause of spreading the light of knowledge among these children.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Alka Saxena blessed everyone present and stressed on the value of sharing. Through a story she gave the message that if we share our blessings with others, we bring joy to ourselves and to others around us.

Students from Gyan Kendra and Blue Bells presented a well synchronized cultural programme which left the audience enchanted.

The staff and students of the Blue Bells Family wholeheartedly contributed chocolates and diyas to be given away as a token of love to the children of Gyan Kendra as a mark of festive spirit. The joy also was shared with the rest of the children from the Gyan Kendra  as the gifts were packed and sent for them through their friends who visited us.

The assembly ended on the note that true happiness is in giving back to the community and the greatest joy is being the reason of someone’s smile.
