Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School CELEBRATES WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY, 2022

‘The tobacco epidemic is one of the biggest public health threats the world has ever faced.’-WHO

We, at Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, strongly feel that if the foundation of values is strongly laid and children are equipped with their life skills. In furtherance of the vision and to highlight the health risks associated with tobacco use and sensitize all about the ill effects of Tobacco, Health & Wellness team organized a special assembly to celebrate ‘World No Tobacco Day’, in the school on May 31, 2022, under the inspirational leadership and guidance of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS.

A Special Morning Assembly moderated by the Health & Wellness Ambassador, and Peer Educators of Classes VII to X was organized for the Middle and Senior Wing respectively. The focus of the assemblies was to create awareness among the students and teachers on the harmful effects caused due to use of tobacco products. Saavi Chauhan presented her award-winning video which she curated for the Inter-School Competition by the Indian Cancer Society on the current year’s theme of World No Tobacco Day 2022 ‘Tobacco: Threat to our Environment.’ The students also presented a ‘Street Play’ on the same theme and showcased how the use of tobacco may give a false sense of comfort from stress in the beginning but later becomes the cause of pain and misery. Kasak Yadav, Health & Wellness Ambassador, BBPS presented facts related to the harmful effects of tobacco and requested all the members of the august gathering to take a Pledge to ‘Say No to Tobacco. The Assembly closed on a promising note with a SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN which was given a befitting start by our mentor Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS. Thereafter, Ms. Arpita Acharya, Officiating Principal, Ms. Suneeta Kaul, Middle Wing In-charge, Health & Wellness Resource Centre Team, teachers, and students filled the pledge with aesthetic and artistic doodling to create awareness on this core issue. The response to the endeavour was overwhelming and the motive of enlightening Gen Now took the shape of a reality. This will be one drop in the ocean to create aware and empowered adolescents. The efforts of the Health & Wellness team contributed to spreading awareness and developing the community of learners, empowered to combat the global epidemic- against the use of tobacco.

INTERNATIONAL MUN AT BBPS

 BBPS , Sector-10, Gurugram, organised BBPS MUN at the International Level.  DAV Cenetary Public School, Malla Hadwani Nanital and Shining Star International School, Abu Dhabhi, UAE particiapted in the event which was held with the agenda Paris Agreement and Solutions for the Climate Problem of the World. 

All the delegates were given chance to present their research work and solutions taken up by their respective countries to solve the problems of climate change.

At Blue Bells, we endeavour to form initiatives that promote the unfolding potential of the youth, through a process of constant self-exploration and self-evaluation, with a vision to realize a sense of community service, strong social values, and high levels of participation in governance.

Extreme unpredictable weather, higher temperatures, and changing rainfall patterns are being experienced by populations globally, regardless of whether it is recognized as ‘Climate Change.’ To spread awareness about living in harmony with nature and conserving our precious resources, Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School organized a Climate Marathon on June 03 , 2022, within a radius of 500 meters of the school. The event was a proud testimony of the commitment of the school to creating awareness about the ‘Paris Agreement and Solutions for the Climate Problem of the World’. The Senior Student Council, students, and teachers of Classes VI to X were arduously involved. The students not only enthralled but also annunciate their understanding among the residents of Sector 10 on the grave issue of ‘Climate Change’ through a thought-provoking Street Play and Marathon.

The Marathon was flagged off from the school by the School Leadership Team and then the group of enthusiastic and energetic climate warriors took on the task of spreading awareness on the issue. The school team received an overwhelming response from all stakeholders be it their mentors, teachers, peers, or residents of Sector 10, Gurugram.

SAVE SOIL MOVEMENT

COMMITMENT TO CONSERVE RESOURCES: ‘SAVE SOIL MOVEMENT’

The soil is the great connector of life, the source, and the destination of all. It is the healer, restorer, and resurrector. Without proper care for it, we can have no community and life. It is the basis of sustenance of life for people across the globe as it helps in preserving the natural elements and nutrients along with restoring the water table. To sensitizestudents aboutthe importance of conserving the precious resource, ‘Save Soil Movement ’ was organized from May 19, 2022 to May 27, 2022 under the aegis of the Health & Wellness Programme, Blue Bells Group of Schools steered by Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS.

Mr. Rajiv Kohli, an alumnus of IIT Mumbai and IIM Bangalore, Ms. Paramjit Narang, one of the finest educators of India, Mrs. Lata Pathak, a social worker associated with many NGOs in Gurugram and working for the social upliftment of the society, conducted varied sessions, where students participated with enthusiasm. The session for the Primary Wing was conducted on May 19,2022, and for the Middle Wing on May 27, 2022.

The students were briefed about the deterioration in the quality of soil and the importance of sustaining it for the future generation. They were also apprised of the ‘Save Soil Movement’ launched by Isha foundation, Save Soil Movement is a Global Movement to initiate a conscious approach to soil and planet. The movement seeks governments attention of all nations that their citizens want a policy to revitalize soil and ecology.weaving the world in one thread to address the issue of soil crisis, its health, and actions toward increasing the organic content in cultivable soil.

The students were urged to raise the bar of awareness by sending their letters to the Honourable Prime Minister of India and requesting him to take the necessary steps to address the issue in a constructive manner.

The students shared their understanding of the problem and joined hands to ardently contribute tothe cause at the close of a thought-provoking session. The students of the all Wings wrote letters to the honourable Prime Minister of India to share their concerns and request to save their soil. The letters written by them were handed over to the representatives of the ‘Save Soil’ organization. They were rewarded with badges for the same.

Dr.Alka Saxena, Deputy Director ( Health & Wellness),BBGS applauded the members of Isha Foundation and Save Soil Movement for their efforts and for giving an opportunity to the young brigade of the school to vehemently voice their opinion and contribute to the cause. She further reiterated the importance of healthy soil and encouraged the students to participate in the cause wholeheartedly.

 ‘PARIS AGREEMENT AND SOLUTIONS FOR THE CLIMATE PROBLEM OF THE WORLD’

The world is passing through a very unpredictable phase where on the one hand, there are a plethora of opportunities in futuristic as well as conventional areas, but on the other hand, it is beckoning you to take up cudgels and come up with solutions to challenges such as global warming and climate change. To sensitize the students on the gravity of Climate Change and its impact, a Panel Discussion was organized by the Senior Student Council of the school for the students of Class X on May 30, 2022. The agenda of the discussion was ‘Paris Agreement and Solutions For The Climate Problem of the World’.

The aim of the interactive deliberation was to strengthen the roots of democracy, inculcate healthy habits of discipline and enable students to actively contribute to the cause. The panelists apprised about the CO2 emissions, Green House Effect, and the suggestions given in the Paris Agreement to combat the issue. It was an enriching experience for all.

At Blue Bells, we endeavour to form initiatives that promote the unfolding potential of the youth, through a process of constant self-exploration and self-evaluation, with a vision to realize our true potential. It is aided by inculcating a sense of community service, strong social values, and high levels of participation in governance. In pursuance of the same vision, the school hosted the Fifth Edition of BBPSMUN 2022, an Intra School MUN for students of Classes IX & X , on the theme,’ Blue Bells For  Climate Control’ on May 25, 2022. The agenda of the conference was ‘Paris Agreement and Solutions for the Climate Problem of the World.’ The event was declared open by Charge D’ Affaires, Ms. Arpita Acharya, Principal (Off.), Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, Sector 10, Gurugram. 

The event witnessed 100% participation from the students and it was heartening to see the Class XII students taking the lead and training their juniors. The students deliberated and discussed the issues and problems that exist not only in our country but also in the world and then drew their consensus on the same. The event proved to be an enriching experience for all the delegates as they exchanged innovative ideas and pledged to work towards ‘Climate Change’ in the right earnest.

BBPSMUN  2022 is a platform for the dynamic generation to develop into thoughtful, logical, and determined individuals who would be global citizens with a desire and intention to improve the world of the unparalleled demanding situations our globe presently faces. With a goal to instill a yearning in today’s youth to acquire a distinctive perspective on ‘Climate Change’ in accordance with the ‘Paris Agreement and Solutions for the Climate Problem of the World’, an Orientation Session was organized virtually on May 23, 2022.

The school MUN Team comprising of seasoned MUNers (Alumni and school students),  briefed the scholars

 of Shinning Star International School, Abu Dhabi, UAE, and DAV Centenary Public School, Haldwani, India about Model United Nations, Agenda of MUN, Procedure to be followed, Research for MUN and finally, drafting a resolution. They were apprised about how they can share their insights on the global stage, seek solutions and vehemently voice these solutions in a public discussion.

The session received an overwhelming response from the participating schools and it also highlighted the vision of the school to churn out the leaders of tomorrow with confidence, intellectualism, and an unquenchable quest for knowledge.

MAGIC SHOW

“Magic is believing in yourself, if you can do that, you can make anything happen.”- Johann Wolfgang

Magic is something that is liked by all age groups, especially by the little kids. To provide them with some joyful and refreshing moments, a Magic Show was organized for the students of classes LKG and UKG on May 19, 2022. Tiny-tots felt exhilarated to see a number of magic tricks presented by the magician, Mr. Rishi that was seemingly impossible for them to believe. The magician used natural and known objects to make the tricks real and interesting and involved the students also while performing them which proved to be a hands-on experience for them. On the whole, the show got a big thumbs up by the little Blue Bellians.

BUDDHA PURNIMA CELEBRATION

This Buddha Purnima, our little Blue Bellians from grade I B exhibited their affection and regards towards Gautama Buddha. A Special Assembly was conducted on May 16, 2022 to throw light on the teachings of Buddha. In relevance to the principal theme of the assembly, students organized a meaningful presentation of Buddha’s Teachings galvanizing others to make self-discipline a watchword for their lifestyle. Students spoke about how Buddha taught us to always be truthful and work for the good of others. The Assembly started with a melodious song and chanting of the mantra – Buddham Sharnam Gacchami. They also presented surprising quotes explaining the topic. Since it’s our moral responsibility to know about the world, students enlightened their fellow mates by telling the informative news about what’s going on around the world.

Dwelling deep into the topic, students fervently shared their perspectives through a thoughtful talk on the significance of this day and a beautiful dance performance left the audience awe-struck.

Addressing the students on the occasion, Madam Meenakshi Malhotra, PrimaryWing Leader, sensitized the students to practice meditation and put in their best efforts to be good students. The assembly was concluded with paying respect to the nation by singing National Anthem.

Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School always takes pride in acknowledging the achievements of the students in scholastic and co-scholastic spheres. Like every year, the Academic Achievers for the Session 2021-22 from Grades Nursery to IX and XI were felicitated and presented with mementos, badges and certificates in the Felicitation Ceremony organised on May 14, 2022, in five different slots.

The achievers were invited to the school along with their parents to attend the Ceremony, maintaining the pandemic-related rules and regulations. The function began with an invocation to the Almighty and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The School Song, motivational songs, and riveting dance performances adorned each slot.

Madam Arpita Acharya, Officiating Principal, Madam Sunita Kaul, Middle Wing Leader, and Madam Meenakshi Malhotra, Primary Wing Leader congratulated the parents and thanked them for their ardent support.
