INTERNATIONAL CONNECT FOR CLIMATE ACTION PROJECT

At Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, we strive to strengthen our bonds globally. Taking a step further in the same direction, we got an opportunity to interact with the students of different schools across the globe on the topic ‘Climate Action Project’ through a Google Meet session on December 13,2022 at 06:30 pm IST. The collaboration was done with five schools viz:  Octavio Paz Lozano, Bachillerato General Official, Mexico- Sanctorum Cuautlancingo, Puebla, Unidad Educativa Javier, South America-Guayaquil Ecuador, SMSISJC School, Mumbai- Powai, CSR Memorial Matric HR. SEC. School, Tamil Nadu-Madurai and Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, Haryana-Gurugram.

  The session was initiated with greetings of mentors from the different schools. Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School was represented by Ms. Meenakshi Malhotra, Primary Wing Leader and Ms. Komal Chugh, TGT Science, alongwith students of Grade VIII. A team of facilitators from the school and Ms. Ivy Chaudhary from The Blue Bells School for Integrated Learning also joined in the session. Thereafter, all the students introduced themselves and looked enthusiastic for the session. The discussion was done on the topics like problem of Climate Change moving from local to global, Best Practices each school follows towards environmental concern etc. The students enjoyed the interactive session thoroughly. The students of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School shared a power point presentation on CAUSES, SOLUTIONS & BEST PRACTISES FOR THE CLIMATE PROBLEM OF THE WORLD. An MS Survey Form based on Climate Action was also shared with the participants and they were asked to check their personal scores. Presentations for the Changes in Climate occurring in their respective region was showcased by each school and their best practises were also depicted. Later a Question and Answer session was conducted by the students to gain more insight into the topic.

At the end a special cultural performance was presented by a student of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School and Climate Anthem was sung by the students of CSR Memorial School.  Ms. Meenakshi Malhotra, Primary Wing Leader, Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, thanked the entire team for such a fruitful and enlightening session.

Literary Club Assembly

 It goes without saying that Literary Club activities play a pivotal role in unleashing the creative skills and boosting the confidence of today’s talented youngsters. In the wake of the same, The Literary club of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School organised a special assembly to make the students realise the scope and potential in Literary Club. The participants showcased various literary activities like ‘Turn-Coat Debate’, Declamation, Quiz based on idioms etc. The spirit and enthusiasm of the participants as well as audience need special mention. The assembly concluded with the inspiring words of senior wing leader Ms. Preeti Phutela who lauded the efforts of the students wholeheatedly.   All in all, it was a fun-filled assembly which served its purpose to the fullest.

DISTRESS TO DE-STRESS: HANDLING EXAMINATION STRESS

During examinations, it is important for the students to be in a calm state of mind and to deal with any emotion which may cause distress. To address the feelings and concerns of students and to help them manage their emotions; Health & Wellness Resource Centre team prepared an interactive module for the students under the mentorship of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS. The session to deal with Examination Stress was conducted for the students of Class X on December 05, 2022   and Class XII on December 7, 2022 respectively.

The session included a brief about signs and symptoms of stress so that one can identify stress along with some internal and external factors that may lead to stress during examinations. The objective was to facilitate students to become aware of automatic negative thoughts and acquire helpful and adaptive ways to manage and deal with stress during exams. Prioritizing of tasks was also taken up to emphasize on giving importance to revision time along with identifying time-consuming tasks so that they can be better prepared.

The students were apprised about three steps of planning their time effectively. At first making an overall planner, followed by a weekly time-table and then listing the daily things to do.

The students were briefed about the different learning styles. They were encouraged to identify their own learning style and incorporate them so that their learning and recalling become efficient. The students were encouraged to identify the time wasters they face, like phone calls, social networking, poor planning, cluttered desk and procrastination; especially when they are preparing for their examinations. These were followed by tips that can help them to increase their productivity.

In order to improve students’ concentration span, a few concentration exercises were conducted. These exercises were appreciated by the students as they all participated enthusiastically. These exercises were followed by a short progressive muscular relaxation and guided imagery. Both of which helped them to feel calm and relaxed, which will later help them in increasing their concentration.

The importance of a healthy lifestyle, which includes a balanced diet, regular exercises and good sleeping habits, was also emphasized upon. The harmful effects that simulating activities like T.V., phones, video games, arguments, etc. can have before sleeping was also discussed.

The session concluded on a positive note where it was shared with the students that they could connect individually with the counsellors for any further support. Examination Stress Module will be conducted for Classes VI-IX & XI in the forthcoming month.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLY ON SAVE ENERGY

"Saving energy today will make tomorrow bright!"

With this wise thought, the students of Grade II A presented a Special Assembly on December 13, 2022. Through their well-planned presentation, the students made an attempt to build awareness regarding Energy Conservation.

The assembly started with the chanting of the Gayatri Mantra to invoke the blessings of the Almighty. This was followed by the school prayer, pledge, thought for the day and news update.

Our young learners spoke about the importance of energy and its conservation and focused on saving it for future usage. Through a captivating skit, a motivating song and an energetic dance performance, they apprised the audience about the simple ways in which everyone could contribute in conserving energy.

 In the end, they pledged their wholehearted commitment towards the proficient use of resources. Addressing on the occasion, Madam Meenakshi Malhotra, Primary Wing Leader, appreciated the students for putting up a wonderful assembly with an excellent message.

THEATRE CLUB ASSEMBLY

“Theatre has the power to move, inspire, transform, and educate in ways that no other art form can. Theatre reflects both the extraordinary diversity of cultures and our shared human condition, in all its vulnerability and strength.”

 Theatre Club at Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School has a pivotal role in finding out the inborn artistic talents among students. They learn about and perform different activities in the Theatre Club including voice modulation, gestures, props, and communication skills. The students play many acting games which develop important skills required for acting and performing. They are taught to write scripts by using their creative and vivid imagination.

 Students of the Theatre Club of the Middle Wing presented their assembly by synthesizing various elements of theatre like setting, props, plot, character, theme, dialogues, and music. The participants utilized their creativity and imagination and presented well-knit acts. The acts represented an amalgamation of talent, skills, and knowledge that gave way to learning beyond the walls of a classroom.

The two plays presented by the students were The WISHING TREE (an English Play) and SAVE TREES (a play in the Sanskrit language). The props used were the artwork of the theatre students. The plays were engaging as they allowed the participants to quench their thirst for theatre and explore latent abilities. Participants were delighted to exhibit the talent that they have learned in the Theatre Club so far. They also expressed their sense of fulfillment associated with the process of learning and experiencing new skills.

 Their enthusiasm and earnest efforts were appreciated by the Middle Wing Leader, Ms. Suneeta Kaul.

SCOUTS AND GUIDES CAMP

SCOUTS AND GUIDES CAMP AT BBPS

 Education is not just through books. It is a process of learning through a practical approach with a balanced attitude.

 Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School organized a three-day Scouts and Guides camp from December 5, 2022, to December 7, 2022, for the students of Classes VI to VIII. The aim of the camp was to inculcate practical knowledge into children to enhance their overall development and improve their behaviour. The camp was organized in the school premises.

 The organizers were given a warm welcome by the students. The Camp began with the hoisting and unfurling the Flag. The students were motivated by the guides by sharing their life experiences and guiding the campers on making good choices and taking responsibility for their actions so that they are prepared for their adult life as independent individuals. The second stage of the training included camping, learning different types of claps, improving physical stamina and immunity by the ways of different exercises especially yoga, and different kinds of hand signals with voice signals. The students also learnt different tricks with ropes and most importantly the methods of providing first aid in cases of a medical emergency.

 The students participated in the camp with great zeal and enthusiasm. The winners of each activity were given a medal during the Closing Ceremony. It was a memorable experience for the children as they learnt life skills through this programme. The camp equipped students with skills of responsibility, time management, team spirit and sportsmanship.

The presence of the Middle Wing Incharge, Ms. Suneeta Kaul motivated the students. 'The end of one event is the new beginning for others', on this note the young guides concluded a memorable and knowledgeable Scouts and Guides Camp.

CAREER CONFLUENCE

Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School ORGANIZES CAREER CONFLUENCE

‘The best way to predict the future is to create it.’

It is rightly said that dreams are extremely important and one can’t transform the dream into reality unless one imagines it. The Health & Wellness Programme of Blue Bells Group of Schools believes in this axiom and keenly strives to empower its students to give wings to their imagination and choose the right path to have a rewarding and fulfilling life.

In pursuance of the same objective, Students and Parents were apprised of the wide spectrum of career choices available. The Health & Wellness Programme of the school organized Career Confluence under the patronage and able guidance of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS, for the Students and Parents of Classes IX-XII from November 24  to 26, 2022.

The session on the topic, "How to Get Selected in Top 100 Universities of the World” was conducted for Class XI & XII on November 24, 2022, by Mr. Harsh Wadhwa, a resource person from the I-Step organization. He has been instrumental in helping to devise, develop and deliver comprehensive strategic and tactical plans for various education brands. He apprised the students about the eligibility criteria, admission procedures, courses, and scholarship schemes offered by various international universities.

Mr. Vineet Vaidya, Mechanical Engineer by profession, addressed the students of classes IX & X on November 25, 2022.  He acquainted students on the importance of planning for their careers in advance. He also clarified certain common myths regarding stream selection and guided them to opt for the right stream based on their aptitude and potential.

In the second session, Mr. Vaidya familiarized the students of classes XI & XII with the emerging career options in the field of Science, Commerce, and Humanities. He also cleared certain misconceptions regarding different career choices. Sir updated the students about the plethora of courses and institutions available to pursue their higher studies and suggested them to explore the off-beat and unconventional careers that best suit their aptitude, interest, skills, passion, and personality.

The Health & Wellness team realizes that it is imperative for Parents to identify their child’s aptitudes, interests, career goals, and aspirations in order to make well-informed decisions concerning higher education. To further acquaint the Parents of Students for Classes IX-XII with career choices for their wards, based on their wards aptitude and potential, a workshop was organized on November 26, 2022. The resource person was Mr. Praveen Khanna, a government-certified Business Communication Specialist, and a Certified Training & Development Manager, He is working for over a decade and a half with students, and he also has an enriching experience working at national-level test prep organizations to the Business Schools. Mr. Khanna explained to Parents about their ward’s potential and how to choose the best stream for him/her according to the child’s area of interest. While addressing the Parents, he categorically emphasized emerging Science, Commerce, and Humanities careers and fallacies regarding many professional careers. He also updated the Parents about the plethora of courses and institutions available to pursue their higher studies. The sessions concluded with effective interaction, wherein everyone’s query was dealt with proficiency and dexterity.

The students were also informed about the Career Counseling Committee. The Confluence certainly achieved its objective with an overwhelming participation of Students as well as Parents.

ASTRONOMY CLUB

The Astronomy Club Session was held for the students of Classes III to V and Classes VI to IX on December 02, 2022, from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm. Ms. Shikha and Mr. Ranadeep from the SPACE India were the respective facilitators for the session. They took the session with 20 children in each group . The session included a presentation on the topics Destination Moon and Planets for Classes III -V and Evening Rendezvous with the Sky for Classes VI- IX. They learnt about the different parts of telescope, its history, types of telescopes. Discussion on phases of moon, its surface and craters , planets, and Solar System etc.

 The students performed activities to understand how the craters are formed on the surface of Moon. The student also learnt about how lazer light is used while setting the telescope to observe the celestial objects.

 Later, they came at the school ground and observed moon and its craters , Saturn and its ring, Jupiter with 4 Galileo Moons and Mars through the high-resolution telescope. At the time of dispersal when the parents were told by their wards that the star like object near the moon was actually Jupiter, parents requested if a session could be conducted for them as well, as they too didn't know and thought that it was a pole star.

 The students were also given a handbook that contained details of telescope and details about the structure of Moon .Overall, it was a fun-based learning session for the students which they enjoyed thoroughly.

HOME SCIENCE CLUB ASSEMBLY

Home science is not just about ingredients, recipes, and cooking. It’s about harnessing imagination, empowerment, and creativity. The students of the Senior Wing of Home Magic Club showcased their impeccable skills and creativity in a Special Assembly organised by them.

The Assembly started by seeking the blessings of the Almighty, followed by the regular features. The students of the Club presented a self-composed poem. They also organised all their learning at the Club in the form of a PPT Presentation and a video with the recipe for baking a cupcake.

The highlight of the assembly was the live Pizza Baking Counter wherein the students taught the process to all their friends. The exciting and informative quiz on different cuisines and dishes was superhit, with the reward for each correct answer being a cupcake!

 Madam Preeti Phutela, Senior Wing Leader addressed the students and appreciated their efforts.

HERITAGE CLUB ASSEMBLY ( MIDDLE WING )

India is a land of diversity- in cultures, religions and languages. Heritage Club at Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, aims at making the students take pride in this unique diversity of our country, and its rich and varied heritage. To create awareness about the heritage conservation and to appreciate and preserve our cultural and natural heritage, a Special Assembly was conducted by the students of the Heritage Club of the Middle Wing.

The assembly started with the prayer, followed by the Thought for the Day, and a speech. Facts about various Heritage sites all over the world were shared and a beautiful song “Indian Culture and Heritage” was sung by the students.

Middle Wing Leader, Ms. Suneeta Kaul interacted with the students and motivated them to preserve their Cultural and Natural Heritage.
