ASSEMBLY ON THE THEME –‘BE ECO FRIENDLY’

"Environment is no one’s property to destroy; it’s everyone’s responsibility to protect."

 The environment plays an integral role in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem we live in. To protect the environment, one should focus on sustainable development. On July 28, 2023, Class VII C of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School conducted a Special Assembly on the theme ‘Be Eco-Friendly.’

 To motivate the students and hone their speaking skills, a PPT presentation was organised on the same theme. Students of all the four Houses of the school presented their PPTs. This created a positive environment amongst the students wherein they were high on enthusiasm, that urged them to show their creativity to their optimum. The aim behind this was to create awareness among students about the importance of keeping the environment clean.

 Ms. Suneeta Kaul, Middle Wing Leader, appreciated the efforts of all the four Houses and motivated the children to keep going ahead. In the end, the children made a promise to themselves that no one will pollute the environment and will not allow anyone to do so.

POSH WORKSHOP

Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School places great emphasis on maintaining a positive work environment and providing education on preventing any form of Sexual Harassment in the workplace. To address this important issue, the school planned and organized a workshop on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) specifically for the Pre Primary, Primary, and Middle Wing  Teaching Staff on July 29, 2023. The workshop was conducted by esteemed Resource Persons, Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director ( Health & Wellness), Blue Bells Group of Schools, and Ms. Kavita Arora, Co-founder and Director of Mittika. This workshop is a part of workshops planned for all teaching and non-teaching staff members under the aegis of the Human Resource Department and Health & Wellness Programme, Blue Bells Group of Schools spearheaded by Dr. Alka.

The primary objective of the Workshop was to raise awareness about the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013, which is an extension of the Vishaka Guidelines issued by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in 1997. By drawing from real-life incidents, the workshop sought to provide a clear understanding of what constitutes unwelcome behaviour or acts as sexual harassment in the workplace. During the session, the responsibilities of both employers and employees were outlined. The participants gained insight into the scope of the act and were sensitized about their rights and responsibilities in relation to sexual harassment.

At the close of the workshop, all participants expressed their gratitude to the Resource Persons and shared that they felt more empowered, having acquired valuable knowledge from the session.

Nature Conservation Day Assembly Report -Grade I B

‘Nature is our greatest treasure, and its conservation is our wisest investment for a thriving future.’

World Nature Conservation Day is celebrated across the world to raise awareness about the importance of protecting natural resources and the significance of nature in our lives. To brighten mankind's hopes for a greener tomorrow, an assembly was conducted by the students of Grade I B on July 28, 2023.  

The assembly commenced with the Gayatri Mantra and the school prayer, seeking blessings for the protection and preservation of nature.  It was followed by the regular features of the assembly which further reinforced the message with clarity and impact. Thereafter, the students spoke about the different ways to protect the environment. The melodious song and rhythmic dance presentation highlighted the significance of nature conservation.

Adding to the significance of the event, the Grade II students showcased their creativity through captivating posters conveying the importance of clean and green nature.

The School Leadership Team applauded the students' efforts and encouraged them to continue giving their best in conserving nature.

INTER HOUSE PPT COMPETITION ON ‘LET'S BE ECO-FRIENDLY’

The students of Class IX A hosted an exciting Inter-house PPT Competition with the theme ‘Let's Be Eco-Friendly.’ The event aimed to raise awareness about environmental issues and encourage students to come up with innovative solutions to create a sustainable and eco-friendly future. The competition saw enthusiastic participation from all four houses, and students exhibited their creativity, knowledge, and dedication to promoting a greener world. A PPT was also shown to the students on the importance of Mangrove Forests.

 After much deliberation, the panel of judges which comprised of Ms. Suneeta Kaul, Middle Wing Leader, and Ms. Pratima Chauhan, Pre-Primary Coordinator, announced the winners of the Inter-House PPT Competition:

 First Position: Kalpana Chawla House and Radhakrishnan House

Second Position: Sarojini Naidu House

 The judges were appreciative of the performance of the students. The winning houses received certificates, acknowledging their efforts and dedication to promoting eco-friendly practices. The students of Class IX A presented Tokens of Gratitude to the revered judges and other members of the Leadership Team. The competition was a resounding success in creating awareness about environmental issues among our students. It not only encouraged research and creativity but also instilled a sense of responsibility towards the planet in the young minds of our school community.

Raahein -A Positive Parenting Guide

 ‘RAAHEIN- THE POSITIVE PARENTING GUIDE’

Presented by Wellness Wise by Dr. Alka

“Positive parenting is not about being a perfect parent, but rather a loving and supportive guide, nurturing the unique potential within each child."

In sync with the vision of Blue Bells Group of Schools and further develop the holistic well-being of the scholars, Wellness Wise by Dr. Alka conceptualized, curated, and presented  ‘Raahein- The Positive Parenting Guide’, an experiential, theatre-based workshop for parents. The workshop focused on the principles of the Positive Discipline Approach. It was conducted on July 26 & July 27, 2023, in the premises of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, Sector 10, Gurugram.

Dr. Alka Saxena, Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator and Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS, and Mr. Zubair Idrisi, Applied Theatre Practitioner were the esteemed resource persons for the workshop.   The focus was laid on positive parenting as the masterpiece that moulds hearts, colours minds, and sculpts the future with love and guidance.

In an experiential learning and interactive workshop with hands-on activities, Dr. Alka and Mr. Zubair focused on understanding a child's perspective and empathizing with them are crucial aspects of positive parenting. Parents immerse themselves in their child’s world and gain valuable insights that nurture the parent-child bond.

Dr. Saxena apprised parents that, it is always helpful if engage in open and respectful communication with their children. By asking and giving them space to think, parents can encourage their child's autonomy and make them more capable, which will further help them to foster mutual respect. Dr. Alka further shared the importance of establishing routines with their children in order to make their children self-reliant and build confidence. Mr. Zubair’s thought-provoking theatre activities helped parents to experience the topic in a much deeper sense. 

 The parents deeply appreciated and lauded the thoughtfully planned and executed session. They enthusiastically engaged in the activities and gained insights into the significance of fostering a strong bond with their children. The parents highly appreciated the workshop.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLY ON ‘LITTLE JOYS OF EVERYDAY LIFE’

‘Happiness is something that comes from your own actions.’

With an aim to spread joy and positivity, a Special Assembly was conducted by the students of Class IV A on the theme 'Little Joys of Everyday Life'. The assembly commenced with a very powerful thought on happiness which set the tone of the programme. It was followed by the regular features of the assembly which further created a positive and happy atmosphere. The presentation of a heartfelt poem and a delightful song left the audience spellbound and inspired. The enthusiastic students presented a mesmerizing dance which perfectly captured the essence of joy and celebration.

Addressing the students on the occasion, the School Leadership Team inspired the students to embrace happiness as a way of life, and be mindful of the impact of their actions on others.

AN INFORMATIVE WORKSHOP ON CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF NEW AGE LIFESTYLE

The school , in association with Hindustan Times, organised a workshop for the students on 'Causes and Effects of New Age Lifestyle' with the aim to provide the students with a comprehensive understanding of the factors that contribute to the emergence and impact of the new age lifestyle. The workshop covered various aspects such as societal changes, technological advancements, and individual motivations that drive individuals towards adopting this lifestyle. The objective was to foster awareness and promote critical thinking about the implications of this trend on personal well-being, relationships, and society as a whole.

 Dr. Vineet Sikka, the Resource Person for the workshop, who is working as an Associate Professor in Department of UG Management Studies, Faculty of Management Studies and is a Company Secretary, highlighted the importance of Yoga, Meditation, and other spiritual practices as a means towards a balanced lifestyle.

By exploring the various factors influencing the adoption of the new age lifestyle and examining its potential effects, the workshop enabled the students to make more informed choices about incorporating new age practices into their lives. Overall, it was an interesting and informative workshop.

 The vote of thanks was extended by the Senior Wing Leader, Ms. Preeti Phutela. Ma'am also impressed upon the fact that we are not tools in the hands of technology rather we should make wise choice while using technology as it is the tool in our hands. One must consider one's health on priority while adopting a particular lifestyle.

RELEASE OF JULY I EDITION OF ABHIVYAKTI

The school news bulletin, known as 'Abhivyakti', encompasses the essence of hopes and dreams. The dedicated team behind Abhivyakti has invested countless hours to bring out  the July Edition-I, centered around the theme 'Honouring Mother Earth'.  The members sincerely hope that readers derive immense pleasure from reading it. The team expresses their heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed, ensuring the theme shines brightly throughout this edition.

SCREENING OF THE LAUNCH OF CHANDRAYAN III

In an attempt to make the students go beyond the textbooks and to give them the latest scientific updates, the students of Classes III-V were shown a video of the successful launch of Chandrayan III. Students witnessed the proud moments for India as the Chandrayan soared into the sky. This great moment inspired them to delve deeper into the realms of Science and Technology.

INSPIRING JOURNEY OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP: ALUMNA TALK ON HER START-UP

 On July 15, 2023, our institution had the honour of hosting a talk by Revika Malik, an esteemed alumna and the founder of the Fashion Label Revika. The session aimed to inspire and educate the audience about the challenges and triumphs of entrepreneurship through Revika’s remarkable journey. The event was attended by the students of Classes IX to XII.

Revika began by sharing her personal motivations and the pivotal moments that led her to start her own venture. She shared her entrepreneurial journey, highlighting the challenges she encountered along the way. She emphasized the importance of perseverance, adaptability, and a willingness to embrace failure as an essential component of success. She candidly discussed the initial struggles she faced, such as securing funding, building a talented team, and navigating market competition.

 Throughout the talk, Revika shared valuable insights and lessons learned from her experiences. She stressed the significance of identifying a clear vision, setting realistic goals, and cultivating a strong network of mentors and advisors. She also emphasized the importance of staying true to one’s values and remaining passionate about the problem their start-up aims to solve.

 The session included an engaging question and answer segment, allowing the audience to interact with her and clarify their doubts. Students posed thought-provoking questions about various aspects of entrepreneurship, ranging from marketing and scaling to managing setbacks and work-life balance. Revika responded with thoughtful insights, drawing from her own experiences and lessons learned.

 The talk concluded with a recap of the key takeaways from her journey. The students left the event inspired by her entrepreneurial spirit and armed with practical knowledge to pursue their own start-up endeavours. The talk served as a catalyst for aspiring entrepreneurs, motivating them to embrace challenges, foster innovation, and pursue their dreams.

 The Wing Leader, Madam Preeti Phutela and the Principal, Dr Trilok Singh Bist congratulated Revika and thanked her for her inspiring visit to the alma mater.
