In the 21st Century mindscape it is pertinent to hone various multiple intelligence in the students for their holistic growth so that they are equipped to face the competitive world with ease. Higher order thinking skills include critical, logical, reflective, metacognitive and creative thinking. They are activated when individuals encounter unfamiliar problems, uncertainties, questions, or dilemmas. Successful applications of the skills result in explanations, decisions, performances, and products that are valid within the context of available knowledge and experience and that promote continued growth in these and other intellectual skills. Appropriate teaching strategies and learning environments facilitate their growth as do student’s persistence, self-monitoring, and open-minded, flexible attitudes.

 The school has initiated the THOTS (The Higher Order Thinking Skills) program under THE HEALTH & WELLNESS PROGRAMME in order to provide the students with a structured approach for the development of cognitive, emotional and social thinking skills and thinking processes. This is one of the unique initiatives of Dr. Alka Saxena , Assistant Director (Health & Wellness), Blue Bells Group of Schools, to  empower the students by  developing Thinking through experiential learning via physical Thinking Tools and Mind Games.

A  Workshop was organized for the parents  on August 1, 2015  , to give a hands on experience to the parents about how these mind games help to develop various skills like critical thinking, problem solving, decision making etc. in the children. The parents were accorded a formal welcome by Ms. Anjali Nagpal, Principal of the school who stressed on the importance of inculcation of THOTS in the school curriculum and thereafter a presentation was shown to them with an introduction of how thinking skills are developed in the students through various challenging games.

At the end of the Workshop, the parents shared their happiness and contention of learning new strategies to make the learning more focused and oriented. They reposed their faith in the Management of the school and thanked them for providing such a unique learning tool to their wards. It was one more occasion to cherish the unique bond of trust that the school shares with the parents who are the valued co-partners in providing education par excellence.

DEEP COMMISERATION FOR A LEGEND
Former President APJ Abdul Kalam, the missile man who came to be known as Peoples President was heavenly abode  on Monday i.e. July 27, 2015 ,  after he collapsed during a lecture at the IIM in Shillong . The members of the school paid the solemn tribute to this legendary iconic man who personified excellence and leadership effectively.
A special Condolence Assembly was organized in the morning on July 28, 2015 to offer a greatest and deep gratitude to the man who was the eleventh President of India after a distinguished scientific career in defense and space research where he was responsible for bringing India upfront as one of the prominent members of the nuclear power world. He was the one who played a phenomenal role in the first satellite launch vehicle SLV-3. He had held various positions at the ISRO and was the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India. He was also the recipient of country’s top civilian honours- the Padma Bhushan in 1981, Padma Vibhushan in 1991 and Bharat Ratna in 1997.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal of the school called it a great loss to the nation as he was the one who had given a befitting education module to follow which focused on developing a rich knowledge resource in form of students who would take the baton of government and administration into their hands to take the country to the path of glory. Ma’am urged the students to follow his principles of life which reflected a wide range of theme of abiding human, national and global concerns to become global citizens of this ever growing world. 
The school saluted the contributions of this courageous leader of the country by observing one minute silence to pay tribute to the departed  divine soul.

AN INTER HOUSE ELOCUTION COMPETITION

 A BEFITTING CLOSE TO DIGITAL INDIA WEEK CELEBRATION –
AN INTER HOUSE ELOCUTION COMPETITION
“It is better to debate a question without settling it than to settle a question without debating it.”
Deliberation and speech is the way you stir the soul of democracy.   Elocution not only develops communication skills, research and critical thinking but also provides a stimulating environment that fosters the development of creative and critical thinking. To provide this unique learning tool, the school organized Inter House Elocution Competition for the students of Classes VI to X on July 24, 2015.It was unlike other Elocution Competitions as the topic given was – DIGITILIZATION IN EDUCATION and the contestant were judged on creativity and originality. The theme was related to the impact of technology in education scenario and became the apt close for the Digital India Week initiatives under the directives of CBSE and PMO , in which the school was actively involved  from the inauguration in Delhi on July 1, 2015.  The performance of the students was commendable as the level of the competition was high and the content of the teams was wholeheartedly appreciated by the revered jury for the Competition which was comprised of the experienced English faculty members of the Primary Wing.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal of the school congratulated all the houses for preparing well and giving a tough battle of words to each other. It was an informative way to learn more about Digital India.

A SOUL FUL EXPRESSION OF HEART - I WANT TO BE

" If you can Dream it, you can do it"

Whatever the mind of a child can conceive, It can achieve. Every individual must have certain goal in life to become successful. Individuals aim must be good & noble  so as to  shape the career for a bright  future .
 
A child without an aim in life is like the tree, it can be swayed anywhere depending on where the wind is blowing.  Different people have different aims in life. The students of Class II were asked about their dreams and what they want to be in their life through a Class Activity on July 24, 2015 . The students had to speak few lines about “ What I Want To Be”. 
It was mesmerizing to listen to the young architects of Indian future as many of them  wanted to become doctors so that they can use the knowledge to help other people and make peoples life better. Some wanted to be  teachers and  engineers etc. They all wanted to have an aim that would make life better for others and greatly benefit the society with their skills and experience. Little children with big dreams to serve the society, definitely gives all of us a promise for a better society tomorrow where we will have humans wholl be Humane.

Im an Amateur Doctor ACTIVITY

“ I hear… I forget, I see…I remember .”

Ensuring children are safe at school is a top priority for education professionals and schools. Simple accidents, such as slips or trips, might seem a trivial part of the day-to-day hustle and bustle of school life, but they are capable of causing serious injuries. Students were  educated on how to identify risks or providing first aid.
 Acknowledging the importance of health and safety, and in particular first aid, “Im an Amateur Doctor” Activity was conducted wherein a visit to Medical Room was organized for students of Class II on July 23, 2105. It is important for the students to take a sensible and balanced approach for any injury.

The Doctor and the nurse in the schools Medical Room showed various medical instruments to the students and told them about their use. The students were informed about various important points such as:
• Checking the expiry date of the medicines
• Avoid keeping  FIRST-AID KIT in bathrooms or places that are humid or moist. Medicines also need to be kept away from direct sunlight.
• Use appropriate containers to keep all your first-aid kit supplies
• Organize medicines by function
• Train everybody in your family on how to use a FIRST-AID KIT as it is very essential that everyone in the family knows how to give basic first aid.
• Students were also told Emergency Dos and Donts about Common Issues:
Fever-
The usual medication for fever is paracetamol.
Burns
 -If you get burn the first action is to put the hand undercold running water for a few minutes before applying any lotion or anti-burncream like Burnol.
Wounds -
A bleeding wound has to be cleaned with water first and then with an antiseptic solution like Dettol or Savlon.
Betnovate and Soframycin are the commonly used creams.
Sprains
- Tie a bandage securely around the injury. If there is a break anywhere, it is always useful to hold the broken bone in place by tying a splint on either side of the injured area and holding it there with the help of a bandage till you reach the doctor.
It was a great learning experience for the students.

CREATIVE MASTERS-DRAWING CONTEST

 â€œI Dream My Painting And Then I Paint My Dream.”
Art imitates life and splash of colours bring vibrancy to it. To provide  a platform for the creativity of budding artists to blossom , “Creative Masters”, a Drawing Contest was  conducted by ICICI on July 22, 2015 . The students were given three themes:-
 *My Planet
*My Nation
 *My Family & Friends
The students of Classes I & II used their imagination to showcase their thoughts about the selected topic on their drawing sheets and coloured the same using shading techniques.

ECOWEEK offers a platform to exchange creative ideas and knowledge about our environment.  ECOWEEK is a motivating experience that weaves the enthusiasms and fresh visions of students and engages them with the potential of green architecture and urbanism. ECOWEEK is a green adventure, to open up our imaginations and allow us to design green cities for people.
 
When we talk about the environment we mean everything in the world around us that surrounds and affects all life on earth, including the air, food chains, the water cycle, plants, animals and other humans. 

 
Five basic needs of human beings from the environment are oxygen, water, food, shelter and warmth. Trees fulfill all of these needs. Trees give us oxygen. We get food from the plants. We get shelter from the materials we take out from plants that grow in the earth (trees) to make our homes.
 
But over the years the human population has grown and grown. This has had a huge impact on the environment of our planet.

This impact has caused reduction in the number of trees.
 
So to help our environment and to make difference students of Class II planted small plants in the school nursery.  They also used their Environmental Wreath Quilt that they made for Environment Day to create awareness.
 
It helped the students to appreciate nature, know the importance of trees and make their contribution in saving the environment. Students also promised to make our Earth a happy and green place to live.
 

EID CELBRATION

Blue Bells incorporates in her students the cream of Indian culture and tradition keeping the door wide open for the best of all the religions.  The festival of Id-ul-Fitr marks the culmination of the holy month of Ramzan. It is a festival that brings gifts and feasts after a month of fasting.  To enlighten the students about the festival of Eid, a special Morning Assembly was organized to mark the occasion on July 17, 2015. The remarkable feature of the Assembly was the graceful presentation by the students which depicted a promising picture of secular India. The students were briefed on the importance of the day and why it is celebrated. A  sufi prayer was sung to mark the festive occasion of Eid . 
The moment became nostalgic when the alumni members who were the part of the Student Council in 2013-14 came and attended the Assembly. They shared their experience of holding the position and where they have taken admission in the professional college of repute. The school toppers – Ms Mansi and Mr. Abhinav addressed the students of Science Stream and told them how to go about filling up the various Entrance forms and reaching their dream college. The session was liked by all the students as they learnt the practical way of reaching their goals.
It was a soulful beginning of the day where everyone was soaked in the spirit of spirituality and knowledge enlightenment.

STORY NARRATION ACTIVITY

“Stories are how we learn best. We absorb numbers and facts and details, but we keep them all glued into our heads with stories”
 Story telling is an art that has mental, social and educational benefits on children. People of all ages love stories. Children are great fans of stories and love to listen to them. Storytelling literally means reading out stories to them or just telling a story from the memory to them. It is becoming a lost art today as many parents find very little time to spend with kids as the hustle and bustle of life demands them to reserve more time for the needs of life.
 To promote a feeling of well-being and relaxation , to encourage use of imagination and creativity and to increase childrens willingness to communicate thoughts and feelings along with teaching them the value of good reading habit, Story Narration Session was organized for Class I on July 16, 2015 . The students of Class I narrated stories which they learnt during their vacation. They narrated the stories with confidence and used correct pronunciation. They dramatized their story using props and toys. 
After narration of each story,  the facilitator asked some questions to the students related to the story they heard to enhance listening skills. The students enjoyed listening stories narrated by their friends. They were attentive as the narration was followed by a brief quiz time.

DIGITAL INDIA WEEK CELEBRATION

Blue Bells is an institution based on the strong foundation of the true values of life that believe in inculcating in children the resources that will endure lifelong.  The school upholds a perfect fusion of traditional and modern values for holistic personality development to fulfill the vision and mission of the school – “to churn out socially and ethically responsible citizens of the country”. 
Computer Education & Robotronics are part of our school curriculum, the initiative to set up the same was done by Assistant Director, IT , Blue Bells group of schools,Ms. Anshuka Aneja.
To provide this latest technological education, the school collaborated with Building blocks, one of the prominent leaders in providing Robotics education. The students of the Robotics Club ventured into a new arena, experimented, explored and proved their mettle with their resolute focus and vision.In the IRC OPEN LEAGUE 2014- India’s Biggest Science & Technology Competition at The Shri Ram School, Gurgaon on June 28, 2014, Varun Yadav, Nivesh Yadav, Chirag Harit , Mayukh Joshi and Abhinav Sharma bagged the coveted First Position and their model was adjudged as the best. Adding more glory they also bagged a fully paid trip to Seattle, Washington, USA to represent India in the world wide version of IRC League. The Robotics Team did their alma mater  proud by bagging the coveted First Position in the International  version of IRC Open League 2015 entitled ‘ Make In India’ held at Seattle, U.S.A  for designing a Robot that will help  in assembling a rocket on June 6, 2015 . 

To felcitate the achivers of the IRC 2015, a special Morning Assembly was organized on July 7, 2015, which was graced by Ms. Anshuka Aneja , Assistant Director –IT, BBGS. The students not only shared their experience but also showed a sample run of one of their robots to all the students. Speaking on the occasion, Madam Anshuka congratualted the students for their magnificent achievement and blessed all to attain unparalleled heights of glory by their hard work and focus.
