TRI-COLOUR FOOD ACTIVITY

A healthy, balanced diet for children provides essential vitamins, minerals and other nutritional goodies that kids need for healthy growth and development. Vitamins and minerals are vital for our bodies to function properly and each one plays a specific role in the body.

School is a time when children start to make independent choices about their lifestyles. This is an important time to talk about and encourage healthy food habits. 

Involving children in planning and preparing their own lunchboxes gives them the opportunity to learn about healthy eating, and also gives them a chance to make autonomous decisions about what they will be eating during the day.

In the right amounts, nutrients give the child energy to grow, learn, and be active. To ensure kids are getting the vitamins, minerals and other goodies they need, it is important that they eat a wide variety of nutritious foods from all the different food groups.

Different colours of fruits and vegetables usually contain different combinations of nutrients. To make students aware of importance of various types of food and food groups “ Tri Colour Food Activity” was conducted for the students of Class II on August 26, 2015 . The students were asked to bring food of tri colour in their tiffins(green, white and orange) to get the most nutritional value out of the meal.
Students brought lots of fruits and vegetables, rice, wholegrain bread ,pasta, nuts etc.
This activity encouraged the students to eat a wide variety of foods and make healthy food choices for themselves .If children develop healthy eating habits from the start, it will set them up for a healthier adulthood.

OPENING CEREMONY OF NATIONAL LEVEL CBSE SCIENCE EXHIBITION

Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, Gurgaon, is a pioneer institution in the field of education. In an endeavor to showcase scientific skills and innovative creations, the school WILL BE hosting  the National Level CBSE Science Exhibition -2015 from April 23 to April 25, 2015. The theme for the same is ‘Science and Mathematics for a Sustainable World’. The Opening Ceremony on April 23, 2015 in school had witnessed massive participation of students and teachers from all over India. It was a rare honor as Shri. R. P. Sharma, Advisor , CBSE ,  had kindly consented to be the Chief Guest for the Opening Ceremony on April 23, 2015. Mrs. Kshipra Verma, Chief Coordinator for the National Level Science Exhibition, Additional Director Educational Management and Curriculum Coordinator CBSE I, was the revered guest for the occasion.
The Programme started on a spiritual note with the blessings of the Almighty by ceremonial lighting of the  diya  by the esteemed Chief Guest . Ms. Soumya Gulati, Assistant Director (Academic Development and Innovation), BBGS extended a cordial welcome to the dignitaries and the august gathering. The Exhibition was inaugurated by the revered Chief Guest. The Young minds showcased their scientific temper under seven sub- themes namely; Community Health and Environment, Landmarks in Science and Mathematics, Information and Communication Technology, Energy Resources and Conservation, Transport, Agriculture and Waste Management.  Around 311 schools from all over India participated in this mega event. Innovative and talented students would exhibit their models and various eminent personalities from the field of education formulated the renowned jury to adjudge their scientific skills.

Spencers Trip - Class I

Students of Class I were taken to field trip to Spencers Supermart, Gurgaon.
Field trips give students educational experiences away from their regular school environment. . Not only do field trips provide alternative educational opportunities for children, they can also benefit the community if they include some type of community service.
 Children learn about different professions, ideas and opportunities when they travel outside their own neighborhoods. A field trip can awaken the desire in a child to try new things and pursue previously unconsidered dreams. Field trips can introduce children to job opportunities and can spark new interests and passions.
 This trip helped the students to collect specific examples that will substantiate their learning in the class. It also provided valuable qualitative and affective learning experiences which will encourage deeper thinking in the students about neighbourhood services and helpers.

Students were happy to see a large variety of products under one roof. They found it to be a big store where they can come with there parents to buy different things. They observed the atmosphere that how people are coming and whatever they buy they put in a strolley and after that they go to the billing counter where they show the things they want to buy and billing is done. They learnt many new things. Students enjoyed the trip and they were happy that they visited the Supermart with their freinds. They learnt many things and when they came back they shared their experience with their friends and class teacher.  It was a perfect field trip and provided the children with lovely memories and educational moments. The trip was concluded with a reflection sheet.

Virasat

Our school is a part of The School Enterprise Challenge which is an International Awards Programme for schools around the world with up to $50,000 in prizes available for the most entrepreneurial schools, teachers and students. This programme guides and supports teachers and students to plan and set up real school businesses. Students develop essential skills in business and entrepreneurship in a practical, fun and innovative way. The Challenge also helps schools generate extra income for their school, or a social cause of their choice.
When we were given the opportunity to be a part of such a programme, we began with the group discussion sessions with the agenda -“what to produce”? The discussion covered a wide section of our market research that the product should be such that it requires the least investment and gives us the maximum profit. Finally we came to a conclusion to manufacture bamboo pen stands, jewellery for women (including necklaces, earrings and bracelets) and festoons. The first purchase that we made accounted for very less raw material. We made samples and then got them approved from the teacher in-charge. Finally we put up our first stall within the school premises on August 20, 2016.  The majority of our customers were constituted by the teachers of the school. The event was a success and hence we further continued with the manufacturing of our products, not only that, the next time we came up with better products with improved quality and strength.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

One Nation, One Vision, Meri Pehchaan , Mera Hindustan
Independence Day, hours of exhilaration, the time of jubilation, a moment to breathe free in a free Nation, Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School epitomized this sentiment as Independence Day was celebrated with utmost fervor by the Pre-Primary and Primary & Senior Wing respectively on August 13 & 14, 2015.  The academic achievers of Classes I and II were felicitated  on August 13, 2015.
The Celebration commenced with the inspection of parade by Ms. Anjali Nagpal, Principal of the school. The platoons of various Houses of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School displayed a perfect synchronization of movement with the drum beats. The salute of the Marching contingents was taken by Principal Madam.  The students of the school presented a colourful cultural extravaganza which was a kaleidoscope of their commitment and dedication towards their nation which included patriotic song, drill, poem and a presentation to promote Haryana tourism.  The entire school was soaked in the spirit of festivity and patriotism.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Madam sensitized the students about the need to work  towards a progressive India. The Celebration  concluded with the loud resonance of Jai Hind. It was a memorable and rejuvenating experience for all.

Raksha Bandhan……..A festival of threads, a day of celebrating fraternal ties, symbolizing the trust and affection that a brother and sister share.  To honour the dedication and commitment of our brave soldiers protecting the borders of our country, the students of classes I & II  made Tri-colour Rakhis with thanks giving messages on August 13, 2015.

The students were apprised of the great sacrifices done by our freedom fighters to give us the divine bliss of freedom. The students collaged the National flag and Umdrella  using    tri-colour paper bits and paints  on August 13, 2105 . They also made white paper fans to make pigeons-  symbolic of freedom.

PUPPET SHOW

The children can learn many skills and attitudes during the class activities. They learn to express their feelings and  also learn about other various things that helps to  improve their language and movement skills. Taking one step further and to bring learning alive,  a Puppet Show on the topic   “ Helpers & Their Tools” was organized for class II on August 10, 2015 . The students were asked to bring props of their favourite helper along with the helpers tool. They had to speak few lines on the topic.

This activity aided in intellectual development of the students and improved their creativity. In addition it gave a chance to the students to speak about the helper and the tool that they have observed or experienced in real life. It encouraged children to become active participants in their learning. They put themselves in someone elses shoes and explored different areas. Learning from Puppet Show about Helpers and their Tools helped the students understand the topic more enthusiastically.
This Puppet Show grabbed the attention of the students and engaged their curiosity in the topic. This activity helped the students to learn about different helpers and their tools and express their ideas and feelings in a relaxed environment.

A SOLEMN & SOULFUL TRIBUTE : FATHERS DAY CELEBRATION

Fathers Day is a beautiful festival that acknowledges and appreciates the important role played by a father in raising the child and consequently building a stronger society. The word “Father generates many emotions , he is the one who is always instill values and virtues in children with a firm assertiveness as he is the guiding angel who provides an unconditional love and support to the children to make them wholesome wholes . To mark the importance of the day and pay a solemn tribute to the relentless efforts of fathers all across the globe, Blue Bell Public School celebrated Fathers Day on   August 8, 2015 with utmost zeal and enthusiasm. Various fascinating games and events were organized to unearth the inherent talents hibernating in each father. 

An interactive and informative THOTS (The Higher Order Thinking Skills) Workshop was organized for the Fathers to empower them with the latest learning tool to make the classroom transaction interesting and absorbing by taking the students towards out of box thinking by The Health and Wellness Programme under the directives of Dr. Alka Saxena, Assistant Director ( Health and Wellness), BBGS  .

The most enjoyable feature of the celebration was the Kite Flying and Team Building activities in which the fathers competed with utmost enthusiasm. The students of the school presented a well synchronized cultural programme to honour and express their gratitude towards the guiding angels of their lives i.e. father.
The academic achievers of the Academic Session 2014-15 were felicitated by the Ms. Arpita Acharya, Vice Principal and Ms. Sushma Malhotra , Primary Wing Incharge.  Ms. Aprita Acharya, Vice Principal of the school thanked all the fathers for sparing their precious time from their busy schedule to be a part of the festivity which clearly testifies the strong bond they share not only with their children but also the school. She thanked everyone for their encouraging participation and making this endeavour a success.

Friendship Day

“Friendship is like a perennial river which flows forever. It may change its path but will never ever dry up”

Friendship Day is dedicated to the bond of friendship and companionship. It is the perfect occasion to show your friends that you care and to recollect sweet memories of the time spent together. To feel the essence and worth of true friendship, Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School celebrated “Friendship Day” on August 5, 2015.

Different activities were planned and organized for the students of Classes of III to V. The students were sensitized on the importance of trees and class III tied friendship bands to the trees to display their support for environmental protection. Class IV students were engaged in composing a poetry on the theme ”My  Alien  Buddy” and this activity gave vent to their creative imagination. Class V students created a comic strip on the theme “My Buddy” which showcased their innate potential of analyzing the concept in different perspectives.

Ms. Anjali Nagpal, Principal of the school and Ms Sushma Malhotra, Primary Wing Incharge, appreciated students’ efforts and encouraged them to maintain the bonds of friendship  with  nature and society for  sustainable development

WORLD AGAINST CHILD LABOUR DAY 2015

Child Labour is one of the biggest blots on our society. Though the Constitution guarantees us a Fundamental Right ------- Right against Exploitation, yet it still exists in every part of our country. To mitigate this evil and bring awareness in the society, the CBSE took up the initiative to celebrate, “World Day Against Child Labour-2015” through a school based project by which the students can contribute towards mitigating the evil of child labour in the society. In sync with the same mission, the school celebrated World Against Child Labour Day 2015 to enthuse the young Blue Bellians with a righteous spirit of knowledge and justice.

More than 168 million children are trapped in child labour. More than half of them, 85 million, are in hazardous work. This persistence of child labour is rooted in poverty and lack of decent work for adults, lack of social protection, and a failure to ensure that all children are attending school through to the legal minimum age for admission to employment. The World Day Against Child Labour this year focused particularly on the importance of quality education as a key step in tackling child labour. It is very timely to do so, as in 2015 the international community will be reviewing reasons for the failure to reach development targets on education and will be setting new goals and strategies.
The students of the school followed a structured programme schedule to bring in a change that is pertinent to the growth and development of the futuristic citizens of the country and abolishes the menace of ‘ CHILD LABOUR’ .

Adding substance to these activities students conducted a survey for which they first designed a Questionnaire and then took out an Awareness Campaign for the same.
On August 20, 2015 , Class IX  started the second phase of the  CAMPAIGN AGAINST CHILD LABOUR - as a Community Outreach Programme to spread awareness about the severity of this burning issue . The students and the teachers of Class IX  along with members of Heritage Club took out a Rally and started this  drive in the nearby areas of the school. The motto of the drive was ‘  CHILD LABOUR IS CHILD ABUSE ’. The students made various posters and distributed various pamphlets they had made to sensitize everyone on this delicate and sensitive matter which holds an important value in the growth of the country. The response of the people was encouraging and the effort of the school team was whole heartedly appreciated not only by the people living in the nearby vicinity but also the RWA of Sector 10, Gurgaon.  The Rally was coverd by media giant Dainik Jagran , Dainik Bhaskar and Hindustan. 
A repeat survey of the nearby locality was done by the students to find out the difference their efforts had made in sensitizing people on this delicate and sensitive issue. The result was quite encouraging as the number of people who are aware of this evil practice had increased. The efforts of the students’ were quite fruitful and it is a prospective change for our society and the future of our country.
The entire fortnight of analysis, interpretation, illustrations and awareness that was generated culminated into grandeur when the students’ work was put for display in their own classes on August 22, 2015. It was a satisfying Endeavour which focused on one thing- ‘CHILD LABOUR IS CHILD ABUSE’ and also together we can, together we will make a difference with our relentless efforts.
