TALKSHOW - “MY HEALTHY FOOD PLATTER”

Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School ardently works on refining  the linguistic skills of the  little ones along with a perfect  blend of creativity and poise. A public speaking activity like a “ Talk Show” was one such step to improve the oratory skills of the students.

An activity “My Healthy Food Platter” was organized for the students of class LKG on July 24, 2017. As a prior preparation for the event , the students were asked to prepare their day wise healthy food plate one week in advance where they  pasted the pictures of their favorite food, fruits and vegetables which they like the most. Then a Talk Show was conducted wherein the students got an opportunity to exhibit their talent. Each student gave a few lines presentation on  their Healthy Platters and the benefits of eating nutritious food. Students  expressed themselves confidently with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm The presentation helped in sensitizing the students towards a healthy diet. Overall it was a knowledgeable and enthralling experience.

‘Creation Is The Manifestation Of Pervading Consciousness.’

Language is an effective medium for the communication of one’s thoughts and ideas, which reflects the purity of one’s innermost soul. To facilitate the quest for knowledge and the spirit of enquiry, various inter-house competitions are organized in the school. In sync with the same vision, an Inter House Debate Competition was organized  to mark the World Population Day on July 21, 2017. The students articulated and presented their views on the topic – “ IT IS EASY TO ADD BUT DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN.”

In 1989, the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme recommended that 11 July be observed by the international community as World Population Day, a day to focus attention on the urgency and importance of population issues. This year's theme is “Family Planning: Empowering People, Developing Nations.”  The students focused on varied important issues like access to safe, voluntary family planning as a human right which  is also central to gender equality and women’s empowerment and also  a key factor in reducing poverty. It was an interesting battle of words which was adjudged by a panel comprising of English Faculty members of the Senior Wing. The Principal of the school appreciated the efforts of the participants by researching and presenting the content effectively . The result of the Competition was :-

ACTIVITY - WHEAT TO FLOUR

The school believes in providing hands on learning experience to the students so that concepts introduced are fortified and learning gets internalized . In sync with the ongoing theme ‘Farm to Table’ , a  story  was narrated to the   students of UKG  where they were told about a Hen who took the wheat to the mill to be crushed and ground to flour .

The students had an urge to know how this wheat was ground to flour. To help the students understand the concept in an effective manner, an activity was organized on July, 18, 2017 . The students were given practical demonstration of the entire process in the Activity room. They enjoyed the process by which the wheat was ground by a machine equipped with rollers into pieces and then fine white flour. The students watched the process enthusiastically and posed questions to satisfy their curiosity .

It also provided a unique learning opportunity  to  the students wherein they understood how the  product  grown by the farmers on the field had to undergo  a chain of processes before reaching our kitchen and finally our dining tables.

“ODE TO DAD”

A special assembly to celebrate Father’s Day “Ode to Dad” was conducted for the students of Classes I & II on July 18, 2017 by the students of Class II B to showcase love, respect and gratitude for their fathers.

 The celebration began with action and affection packed renditions both in English and Hindi. After this the students were shown a video to apprise them about- how this day came into existence and how we can make our family members feel special on occasions like these. A plethora of activities were conducted across the Primary Wing to amalgamate feelings with creativity.  The students of Class I & II made Wall Hangings with pictures of them with their dad on it. Class III and IV designed Paper Weights by using Doodle Art on Stones. Class V students doodled Diary Covers as a gesture of gratitude for their fathers. Primary Wing Incharge Ms Sushma Malhotra apprised the students about the teachings and values associated with Father’s day.

 ECO WEEK – HUES OF BLUES

 "The sea was the cradle of primordial life, from which the roots of our own existence sprouted.”

Billions of years of evolutionary development brought forth an enchanting diversity and harmony in deep waters. The marine life is at risk as the level of pollution is astoundingly high. Human callousness has caused a tremendous threat to the existence of aquatic life. To create awareness about the threats to Marine Life and the importance of conserving the only planet with life “Blue Planet – Earth” , Eco Week – “Hues Of Blues” was organized in the Primary Wing of the school from July 17 to July 21 , 2017.  Plethora of activities were conducted for classes I to V .

Class I students presented “Chorus Rhyming” on saving aquatic life. Class II creatively assembled crafty aquatic animals in an aquarium made out of used boxes. Class III painted stones to make aquatic animals. Class IV had a Slogan Writing activity where the students wrote slogans to Conserve Marine Life on cut-outs of Earth and Class V did a Poster Making activity wherein they depicted Sea Life and wrote the measures  to save it.

A special Assembly “Marine Marshals” was also presented by Class V D on July 19, 2017. The students were shown  the diversity in aquatic life through ICT presentation. A skit where the students  as Marine Marshals showcased their commitment towards the  mission to save Marine Life was heartily applauded by all. To reinforce the concept introduced during the week and the presentations in the Assembly , an informative Quiz was conducted where the students enthusiastically participated and replied.

“HEALTH HARMONY”

INTER-HOUSE RADIO JOCKEY COMPETITION – “HEALTH HARMONY”

In order to train youngsters in speaking skills, script writing, time management, implementation of electronic media and to develop their personality and confidence, an Inter-House Radio Jockey competition on the theme – “Health Harmony” was held at the Primary Wing of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School on July 12, 2017 .

The participants from all the four Houses participated with utmost  zeal and enthusiasm. The presentations highlighted the importance of good food, healthy lifestyle, and positive attitude towards life. Each presentation had a flavour of humour and creativity. On the panel of judges were Ms. Mamta Shivpuri , Ms. Renu Rawat and Ms. Vibha Sharma. It was a rich learning experience where students worked as a team to frame their broadcast that included chat with listeners, guest interviews, jingles, news and songs with a touch of style, poise and expression to their thoughts. DOCTOR’S DAY CELEBRATION

“Doctors are living angels on earth ”

Doctor’s Day holds a special significance for medical practitioners in India as it pays tribute to the entire medical profession. This is in commemoration of the Birth Anniversary of eminent physician and patriot Dr. B.C. Roy.  First Doctor’s Day was celebrated in 1991 to pay tribute to Dr B C Roy and salute the spirit of his dedication. National Doctor’s day in India is observed to create awareness about the role, importance and responsibilities of the doctors and value their dedication towards people. 

Doctor’s Day in Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School was celebrated in the Pre-Primary Wing with a special assembly on July 7, 2017 to appreciate the tireless efforts of the doctors. The students  of classes NUR-UKG celebrated the day with full enthusiasm, a  plethora of activities were conducted to acknowledge the role of doctor’s in our lives. The students of Class Nursery performed a group activity wherein they recited an action rhyme “Brush Brush your teeth….Brush it every day”. The facilitator explained the importance of keeping oneself clean and hygienic. All the students participated enthusiastically in the activity and also learnt the relevance of personal cleanliness. The students also met the Doctor of the school. The doctor told them about health and hygiene and showed the medical tools like stethoscope, Thermometer and First Aid Kit.

The students of LKG did an individual activity of  designing paper cutouts of doctors & nurses  given by the teacher. They enjoyed the activity & also learnt about the different medical equipments used by doctors. UKG students prepared Medical Kit using pastel sheets in which they pasted various medical supplies to be used for a patient in case of emergency. The various items used by them included adhesive bandages, cotton balls, antiseptic cream etc.

 Facilitators briefed the students about  the profession ,  ethics followed by the  doctors & their tireless efforts in curing the patients. The students were also enlighetened  about the responsibilities that doctors have towards saving lives. 

VANMAHOTSAV CELEBRATION

COMMITMENT  TO CONSERVE  NATURE : TREE PLANTATION DRIVE BY

 YOUNG BLUE BELLIANS AS A PART OF VANMAHOTSAV CELEBRATION

Van Mahotsav, a week long festival of tree planting is organized every year in the first week of July across India when millions of trees are planted. This movement was initiated in the year 1950 by  Union Minister for Agriculture, Kulapati Dr. K M Munshi. The celebration of Van Mahotsav  at Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School  was an ideal opportunity to instill personal and social responsibility in the  students towards safeguarding trees and forests. The focus of the celebration was towards forming a personal connect between the students and trees through a process of experience, reflection and creation.

To sensitize the students to conserve the natural resources the Eco  Club of the school, since its inception, has unfailing carried on the task of upgrading the environment in and around the school by planting and nurturing the saplings. The school celebrated Vanmahotsav on July  7, 2017 to show the commitment of conserving resources by replenishing  Mother Earth. The work was ardently carried on with zest by the young nature lovers and was whole heartedly supported by the Principal, Vice Principal ,  Wing In Charges and the teachers. The teachers and  students  were involved in  planting the saplings in and around the school and even to the nearby areas to spread the divine color and cover of Mother Nature. The school team also carried out  an awareness drive to sensitize all on the need to conserve the precious flora .  The Blue Bellians pledge to work as an effective team to save our earth from being depleted of its greenery and precious resources.

ANTI TOBACCO CAMPAIGN: WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY CELEBRATION

“SMOKING THRILLS, BUT KILLS AND ONCE YOU START; IT'S HARD TO STOP…” To highlight the health risks associated with tobacco use, WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY, designated by the World Health Organization is observed every year on May 31. Each year, the Health & Wellness Programme of the school marks this occasion by conducting the Anti Tobacco Campaign under the guidance of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS. A Special Morning Assembly was organized by the Health & Wellness Resource Center comprising of Ms. Shreya and Ms. Renu Khare, school Counsellors , along with the students of Class X-B on May 26, 2017.

The focus of this assembly was to create awareness among the students and teachers on the harmful effect caused due to use of tobacco products. The students presented a thought provoking poem on the harmful effect of tobacco use along with a quiz and an informative talk on the theme: ‘TOBACCO – A THREAT TO DEVELOPMENT’. The highlight of the assembly was the skit and dance representation which beautifully showcased how the use of tobacco provides comfort from stress in the beginning but later becomes the cause of pain and misery.

The Assembly closed on a promising note with a SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN. The Principal, Middle Wing Incharge, counsellors, teachers and students wrote their thoughts and ideas on the Display Board to sensitize all on this core issue.

The response of the students was overwhelming and the motive of enlightening Gen Now took the shape of a reality. This will be one drop in the ocean to create aware and empowered adolescents who will be prepared to combat this issue of tobacco use with    ease.The

Campaign contributed in spreading awareness against the use of tobacco.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY AT Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, SECTOR 10, GURGAON

“Leaders have will to believe, the courage to aspire and conviction that success is possible to anyone who works intelligently and persistently.”

Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School envisions the students to come ahead and communicate ideas and thoughts which plays significant role in functioning of the school system. The school fosters leadership and co-ordination skills in portraying the child, not only as a student but also as a partner and contributes towards the growth of the school. With this belief, the school organized the Investiture Ceremony on May 19, 2017 . Prahsorya Negi  , the Head Boy and Linima Phalswal , the Head Girl took the pledge along with the other newly elected Student Council Members to be the torch-bearers of the school and to carry its glorious legacy to unprecedented heights. They promised to work wholeheartedly to instill creativity, discipline and responsibility among the students.

The badges to the council members were given by the Principal and Vice Principal of the school. Hardik Khurana ,   Head Boy    for the previous Academic Session 2016-17, passed the School Flag to Prahsorya Negi   and Linima Phalswal ,the Head Boy and Head Girl for the Academic Session 2017-18  and House Flags to the Captains of all the four Houses .
