CYBER SAFETY CAMPAIGN “DIGISAFE IN DIGISPACE”

Ignited minds are the most powerful resource compared to any resource on the earth. Technological advancements in the world have been possible due to innovative thinking, original concepts, original ideas and a broad vision. To sensitize the students on the use of the technology tool , the school has initiated a Cyber Safety Awareness Program under the guidance of Ms Anshuka Aneja , Deputy Director , IT (BBGS) . A session on Cyber Security and Safety Rules was organized for the students of Primary Wing on September 20, 2017 . A Street Play “DIGISAFE IN DIGISPACE” presented during a Special Assembly aimed at enlightening the students about the Do’s & Don’ts while using Cyber space like various social networking sites and social applications. The students were made aware about the following :- • Use internet wisely to gather information if required. • Visit websites for information under the supervision and guidance of Parents or Facilitators. • Share their ID details like usernames and passwords with their Parents in case they have an E-mail account. • Discuss their online activities with Parents about games, if they play any. • Follow internet rules. Understand the Age Criteria for Social Sites and avoid creating an account. • Use Security Filters. • Use proper privacy settings and do not share location and photographs with strangers online. • Have a discussion with parents about Avoidance of sharing ATM details or Bank details with unknown callers. • Understand netiquettes and avoid being an Administrator of any WhatsApp groups with friends. • Be careful, responsible and safe Tech users.

SAFE DIWALI CAMPAIGN: AN INITIATIVE BY THE HEALTH & WELLNESS PROGRAMME

Diwali is a festival that signifies the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and hope over despair. However, in the recent years, extravagant celebrations have not only put a great strain on the environment, but have also put people’s health at stake. While these celebrations may seem fun, their far-reaching consequences are not. Air pollution levels rise to dangerous levels, energy and food wastage increases exponentially, plastic packaging and cracker debris litters the roads and several people and animals suffer physically.

Keeping these environmental, health & safety factors in mind,  Dr. Alka Saxena , Deputy Director ( Health and Wellness), BBGS along with her Resource Centre team devised this module after thorough research with all the statistics and verifying data. The module was taken up for Classes III to X from October 11 to October 16, 2017 , by the Health and Wellness teachers and Peer Educators so that the feeling and values could be internalized and everyone could be sensitized towards the issue.

In the Module , the students were apprised about ‘How To Celebrate A Safe And Green Diwali’and covered the minutest details like :-

·        The present way of celebrating Diwali and its harmful effects, (Supported by a video)

·        Pollution and other environmental factors

·        Harmful effects on humans during Diwali

·        Harmful effects on animals during Diwali

·        Wasteful expenditure

·        Adulteration , over consumption of sweets and tips for dealing it.

·        Safety tips to follow during Diwali (Do‘s and Don’ts)

·        The consequences of children working in cracker factories . environmental & health hazards of not only crackers  but also adulteration and generation of waster of flowers, gift wrappers etc.

The sessions were designed to be interactive and  included various well researched videos . This helped the students to think deeper and understand the true essence of celebrating Diwali and propelled all the students to review the situation in a different light.

All the sessions were well supported by the Resource centre team . The students were urged by the team TO SAY NO TO CRACKERS as the crackers and to celebrate a safe & green Diwali. It was an earnest attempt by the Health and Wellness Team to create sensitivity on the issue along with creating an understanding the real essence of celebrating Diwali.

FESTA LITERARIA – A LITERARY SOJOURN

Literature is the expressed influence of communities and societies. It spans culture, beliefs, and attributes the necessary component for corroborating how literature reflects, and portrays communities. The language from literature helps to give cultural explanation of life in different societies. In an attempt to create sensitivity towards literature and appreciate it in its varied moods and genres, Festa Literaria- Lit Fest was organized for the students of the Primary Wing from October 09 to 13, 2017. Mrs. Soumya Gulati, Deputy Director (Academic Development and Innovation) , BBGS was the inspiration and guiding force of this magnificent literary journey. She whole heartedly supported the students and the teachers to concretize their dream to reality. There is an abundance of energy within to motivate ourselves in the direction of true achievement which helps in actualizing all our dreams to reality. It was an earnest attempt of the school to create an environment of support that allows children to develop their own ideas, express their innermost feelings without any inhibition and make right choices by gaining wisdom which is through experiential learning. As literature builds experience, the children expanded their horizons through Book Reading and Oratorical presentations. Plethora of activities was conducted for the students of Classes I to V. Vocabulary Games, JAM Session and Story Telling were conducted for Classes I & II. The students of Class III participated in Impromptu Musical Chair, it was a fun activity where in students were asked to pick up a chit from a bowl and complete the phrase written on it. Second day activity was Letter Story where students composed a story based on words starting from a given letter. Class IV students used pictures to make a Story Collage depicting their understanding of the concept, command over the language, creative skills along with aesthetic abilities. Class V composed stories based on characters from different genres like Cinderella Meets Birbal to enhance their creativity and thinking skills. The week concluded with presentations by Class III where they portrayed Favourite Characters from the stories which helped to hone their communication skills. A Declamation Contest was held for Class IV and a Quiz on Books and Authors was conducted for Class V. Some fun activities were also conducted on the concluding day like Bingo , Tongue Twisters and Jig-Saw Puzzles. The entire week of Literary activities helped the students understand the essence of great work of writers as well as they developed the Language Skills which are pertinent to effectively communicate in the ever growing world with countless opportunities to excel.

GRANDPARENTS DAY CELEBRATION

“Grandparents are a delightful blend of laughter, caring deeds, wonderful stories and Love.” The love showered by our grandparents is innate and their presence alleviates us to accomplish the optimum. The unconditional love, support and guidance extended by the grandparents in nurturing the grandchildren is indeed incredible. To pay a solemn tribute to the divinity of this incarnation of God, Grandparents Day was celebrated in the school with utmost zeal and enthusiasm on October 7, 2017. The occasion was graced by Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati, Director, Blue Bells Group of Schools. A well synchronized cultural programme was presented by the students as an expression of their gratitude towards the angels who have transcended their lives with eternal pleasure. To make the day enjoyable, refreshing and momentous for the grandparents various games were arranged in which they all enthusiastically participated. It was an enthralling moment for all, as the grandparents were taken back down the memory lane and child in them was elated. The students of Classes I to V prepared souvenirs for the Grandparents which they whole heartedly appreciated. . Speaking on the occasion Director Ma’am greeted and congratulated all the grandparents for sparing their valuable time for being the part of the festivity. It was an enjoyable and learning experience for all as everyone learnt how to enjoy life from the worthy grandparents and honour responsibility by contributing positively .

SENSITIZING STUDENTS ON SAFETY : WORKSHOP ON SAFE TOUCH

With a vision to sensitize and aware the young Blue Bellians about their safety, sessions on Safe Touch were planned by the Health & Wellness Resource Center of the school comprising of school Counsellor Ms. Shreya under the inspiring leadership of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director ( Health & Wellness), BBGS.

These sessions were taken with the students of Classes UKG to VIII in different time slots by Dr. Alka Saxena and the school counselors – Ms. Shreya Kumar and Ms. Vrinda Sood from October 5 to 11, 2017 . The focus of this session was to make students aware about the personal zones of their bodies which are not to be touched by anyone. Difference between safe & unsafe touch, adopting safety measures like- ‘Say No’, ‘Scream’, ‘Run for Help’ & and ‘Tell’ a trusted adult (Like, Parents, Teachers & Counsellors) was also shared with them. . To help the students understand the concept , an effective discussion on ‘Stranger Safety’ was undertaken, wherein students shared their concerns and views. The session was summarized by showing age appropriate videos to students on safety suggested by the CBSE and the Gurgaon Police.

The students found the workshop to be informative and they felt that they were now better equipped to face these challenges..

DUSSEHRA CELEBRATION

“A TIME FOR CELEBRATION, A TIME FOR VICTORY OF GOOD OVER BAD, A TIME WHEN WORLD SEE THE EXAMPLE OF POWER OF GOOD.LET US CONTINUE THE SAME TRUE SPIRIT”

Dussehra is the festival which reminds us of the importance of goodness, fighting injustice and following the path of righteousness. The festival of Dussehra is unique in its perception and significance. According to the great Hindu epic Ramayana, Lord Ram killed Ravana on the tenth day that is Dussehra. It is called as triumph of virtue over sin or immorality.

Dussehra in Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School was celebrated with great enthusiasm in the school premises. Keeping the festive spirit alive, Pre Primary wing celebrated Dussehra on 28^th September 2017 by performing various activities.

The students of class Nursery made Stick Ravana using different creative articles like ice cream sticks , shapy cutouts and glitters. They pasted the crown, moustache on the Ravana face cutout. They then decorated and pasted these Ravana Faces on the ice cream sticks provided to them and made “Stick Ravana” with the same. All the students participated enthusiastically in the activity.

 LKG and UKG students also prepared the face mask of Ravana using materials such as paper cut outs, glitters, crown, moustaches etc. The students were also told about the significance of celebrating the festival .

To understand the importance of celebrating Dussehra students of Class I B and IV C conducted a special assembly for the students of Pre-Primary and Primary Wing on September 26 , 2017. Students of Class I B and IV C presented a Skit and a Talk Show on the Importance of Knowing our Culture and Value System and presented Dandiya Dance. Students of Pre-primary also presented a small musical skit showing the “Mahisasur Vadh”.

Students enjoyed being part of the celebrations.

GANDHI SHASTRI JAYANTI - AN IDEA FOR CHANGE

“ Be The Change …..You Want To See “

The students of Class IV A presented a special assembly – An Idea for Change on September 27, 2017 to celebrate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Sh. Lal Bahadur Shashtri . The special feature of the assembly was a Talk Show on the life of Shri Lal Bahadur Shashtri and Mahatma Gandhi . They also presented a Skit based on Digital India,  a flagship programme of the Government of India with a vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. The aim of the presentation was to make the students aware of the importance of Information Technology in improving public services.

Primary Wing Incharge Ms. Sushma Malhotra addressed the students and stressed upon Cleanliness in class and school premises . She told the students how they can take little steps to keep their surroundings neat and clean following the mission of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan – a dream of Mahatma Gandhi brought into action by the current Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi. 

TALK SHOW ON THEME -ANIMALS AROUND US

When we look in our surroundings, we discover different kind of animals. They differ in sizes, shapes, colour and the kind of habitat they live in. The students of Class II were briefed about various species of animals based on their habitat and were asked to prepare a Talk Show on the theme – Animals Around Us on September 27, 2017. To make it a fun-filled learning endeavour, the class was divided into various kinds of animals such as wild, pet, insects etc. The students personified the animals with the use of different and interesting props. This activity helped the students to know about different types of animals.

Food Activity Class II

As children grow up they learn to make their own food choices. It’s important that they learn about nutrition and its effect on their health, so that when they  choose snacks and food items to eat, they are able to make a right choice for themselves.

To encourage the students to eat healthy meals and also sensitize them about value of Nutritious Diet, an activity was planned for the students of Class II. The students were asked to bring a balanced meal in their lunch boxes. This activity “My Foody Platter” was conducted on September 15 , 2017. The students brought one food item from each food group – Energy – giving, Body building and Protective food. They learnt about balanced meal.  The concept was further reiterated when the students analyzed and guessed whether their partner’s lunch box had a balanced diet or not.

It was a play way method to sensitize and introduce the concept of adequate and balanced diet among the students . 

Hindi Hamari Shaan

Hindi Hamari Shaan

September 14, 1949, was the day when Hindi was adopted as the official language of the Constituent Assembly. With an aim to rekindle the love for India’s official language amongst the  students, Primary Wing of the school celebrated 'Hindi Diwas' with an Inter-House Greeting Card Making Competition and a special assembly “Hindi Hamari Shaan” on September 13 & 14 , 2017 by Hindi Club “Jigyasa”  along with  Class IV D and Class I & II respectively.

Assembly commenced with a special rendition in Hindi. The students of Class IV D presented a “Nukkad Natak” highlighting the importance of Hindi language. Class II students recited “Hasya Kavita”.

An Inter- House Greeting Card Making Competition was held on the occasion. Participants from each house showcased a confluence of Linguistic Skills along with Visual Arts. Greetings with a Hindi Poem , Short Story , Biography of a Poet and  Writer were presented to the Hindi Department facilitators from the Senior Wing who also judged the cards on the basis of selection of Content and overall presentation. 

Sarojini Naidu House bagged the First prize , the team comprised of Rakshita Bhalla ( VB) , Saanvi ( VB) , ShubhDeep Mitra ( VD) , Kashish Verma ( VC) , and Bhavika Dahiya ( VC)  and C.V Raman House was  the Runners- up , their team comprised of Sakshi Singh (VA) , Anushka ( VA) , Divyanshi Bhalla (VA) , Tamanna ( VB) and Chahak Jain ( VB).

The event concluded with “Doha Path” by Class I.
