AT Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, SECTOR 10, GURUGRAM

We, at Blue Bells perceive things, persevere for long, to concretize our dreams on the floor of realism and in reality. Success provides happiness when it is affirmed not only by one’s own self but by others. To honour the meritorious achievers of the Session 2017-18, Annual Award Ceremony was organized for the students of Classes  Nursery  to XI on May 19, 2018 .

The programme began with ceremonial Diya Lighting to mark the auspicious beginning of the day with the blessings of the Almighty. The occasion was graced by Ms. Anjali Nagpal, revered Guest for the day. The Formal Welcome to the esteemed guests was given by Ms. Arpita Acharya, Vice Principal of the school. The students of the school presented a well synchronized cultural programme where they showcased the rich kaleidoscopic view of Indian Culture by chanting religious hymns, mantras, shlokas along with fusion dance. The cherry on this cornucopia of presentation was Stand Up Comedy Acts in English and Hindi which were heartily lauded by the august gathering.

The academic achievers of the school were felicitated with their Trophies by Ms. Anjali Nagapl and Ms. Arpita Acharya, Vice Principal of the school.  Speaking on the occasion, Madam Anjali  congratulated all the students for accomplishing their targets. She thanked all the parents for their unconditional support that has helped the school to create a niche for itself in the Delhi & NCR region. Ma’am asked all the members of the Blue Bells family to set challenging yet achievable targets for themselves so that we can grow and prosper in totality.

STUDY SKILLS FOR CLASS XI

The theme for this module emerged due to  concerns  shared by the students on the change in studies witnessed by them as they entered class 11. Understanding this need of the students, a module was prepared  by the Resource center so that they can  feel more prepared to deal with the changes in the study pattern.

Ms. Renu Khare and Ms. Shreya Kumar, Counsellors and members of the Health & Wellness Resource Center took the interactive session on May 18, 2018 which witnessed  enthusiastic participation of the students.

As Class XI forms a solid foundation for Class XII, therefore, the beginning of new academic session was the most  appropriate time to discuss certain important study skills which the students can use to plan, study and prepare themselves throughout the year. 

The main focus of the session was on:

·        PQRST Technique (Preview, Question, Read, Self-study and Test)

·        Being Organized

·        Note Taking

·        Note Making

·        Academic Reading Skills

·        Academic Writing Skills

A befitting close to the session was the discussion on the importance of a study friendly environment where prominence was given on understanding their pattern of studying and focusing on their learning styles.

PEER EDUCATOR FELICITATION CEREMONY

We, at Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School strongly, feel that if the foundation of values is strongly laid and children are equipped in their life skills then future will naturally be secure, as these children will grow up to become committed and confident citizens. With this in mind,  various activities were designed by the Health & Wellness Resource Center under the guidance of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness),BBGS, and conducted by members of Health & Wellness team, to choose the peer educators and peer mentor for this session. The team of students was selected through a well-planned selection procedure comprising the Written Round, JAM Session, Team Building Activities and Personal Interview with  Dr. Alka Saxena. Peer Educators for the Academic Session 2018-19 were administered oath on May 18, 2018.

Ms. Arpita Acharya , the revered Vice Principal of the school conferred the Members with badges Ma’am congratulated them and admonished them to be impartial and honest in discharging their duties. She also exhorted them to uphold the values. Ma’am reminded them that with position comes responsibility towards themselves, their school and peers and struggles help one to achieve heights.

To inculcate the leadership qualities in students and to give them a feel of functioning of the administrative body, a school cabinet was chosen and the Investiture Ceremony was held on April 27, 2018 and May 16, 2018 for the Senior Wing and Primary Wing respectively. The Investiture ceremony signifies the reliance and confidence that the school consigns in the newly invested office bearers. Donning the mantle of accountability, they also pledge to bestow their duties to the best of their abilities.

The ceremony was held with zeal and zest. It commenced with the lighting of the lamp which

signified the removal of darkness. Incessant mounting of the flames symbolized the virtues and

holiness. The badges to the council members were given by the Ms. Arpita Acharya,  

Vice Principal of the school. Prashorya Negi & Linima Phalswal   ,   Head Boy and Head Girl   

for the previous Academic Session 2017-18, passed the School Flag to    Kartikey Gulia and

Sayantika Biswas  ,the Head Boy and Head Girl for the Academic Session 2018-19  and

House Flags to the Captains of all the four Houses . The Health & Wellness Ambassador

and Peer Mentor were Sanjeeta Kumar and Irijiya Kalra respectively. Similarly in the Primary  

Wing , Atulya Vats and Gorochna Gupta , Head Boy and Head Girl (Primary Wing ) for the

previous Academic Session 2017-18, passed the School Flag to Samarpit Chhabra and Jiya Sharma

the Head Boy and Head Girl (Primary Wing ) for the Academic Session 2018-19.  The Students’

Council took the pledge to hold the school motto of Loyalty, Truth and Honour in high esteem.

Ms. Arpita Acharya , Vice Principal of the school  congratulated them and apprised  the Council members that  with position comes responsibility towards themselves, their school and peers which further  helps  to achieve heights. The function closed with the National Anthem.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING THROUGH EXCHANGE PROGRAMME

“Let them be little, fill their hearts with laughter

help them grow wings, nurture their sense of wonder and inspire them to believe”.

In today’s fast changing world, education goes beyond textbooks and classrooms. To provide on hands on learning experience to the tiny tots,  an   Exchange Programme was organized for the students of Class UKG on May 10 ,2018 . The students were taken to the Blue Bells Preparatory School where exciting activities were planned for them. The day commenced with a Story Telling Session where two stories, Pete a Cat and The Enormous Turnip, were narrated and enacted by the teachers to make it interesting and absorbing.  To hone their performing arts, the students were taken on the dance floor where they enjoyed tapping their feet on peppy numbers.

The students of our school visited  UKG Classrooms in Blue Bells Preparatory School . They enjoyed solving  a beautiful worksheet on sight words and also read all the sight words aloud. Learning is fun when amalgamated with play , this belief came alive when the students performed Sports Activity based on the concept of straight counting.

The students were thoroughly engrossed in Phonics Rhyme Game, Passing the Ball, The teacher passed the ball to a child standing in a circle and spoke a letter, the child who caught the ball identified  the sound and passed the ball further. They also enjoyed watching the story in AV Room and relished the refreshments served.

It was a  fun-filled day for the little ones which added to their learning in totality.

Intra School Friendly Match

Studies and sports should go hand in hand for over all development of students.Today Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School organized intra school friendly matches to inculcate sportsman spirit among the students.The children played wholeheartedly and made their Saturday really meaningful

SALUTING THE DIVINITY OF MOTHER: MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION AT Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, SECTOR 10, GURUGRAM

"The palm on your fevered brow, the grip that steadies you on rocky roads, the hand that feeds and nurtures you, the voice that tells you that you are loved, the shadow that walks beside you unconditional and enduring, a mother’s love."

To express the gratitude to the divine bliss of God i.e. Mother, Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School celebrated Mother’s Day on May  5, 2018.  It was the heartiest tribute to the unfathomed love, unconditional support and affection ushered by the mother to her child to make him a unique and splendid personality. The occasion was graced by Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati, esteemed Director , BBGS   and Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy  Director (Health and Wellness), BBGS.   Formal Welcome to all the parents was given by Ms. Arpita Acharya , Vice- Principal of the school .

Various Presentations were organized to unearth the latent talents hibernating in each team comprising of mother and child. The teams actively participated in Best Out of Waste activities like “Jewelry Making”, “Design A Utility Product or Selfie Frame” . Varied games were also organized to keep the enthusiasm going. A well synchronized Cultural Programme was presented to honour the mothers where there was a perfect blend of poem recitation, music and dance performance. As an expression of gratitude along with the commitment of the school for the GO GREEN drive, all the mothers were felicitated with planters mainly  medicinal and herbs with their right botanical name and uses. A Specially designed Certificate along with ‘Thank You’ Cards made by the students added charm to the celebration as the joy reflected in the eyes of all mothers after receiving them made the moment momentous. 

 As a part of Health & Wellness Programme, under the initiative and guidance of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health and Wellness), BBGS, an interactive session on “The Art of Positive Parenting” was organized and conducted by the Health & Wellness Resource Center team. 

Dr. Alka Saxena explained to the mothers, that children do as they see and not as they hear. She shared that while communicating, it is important to ask instead of telling as it encourages one to search for answers. Ma'am further talked about the importance of empowering children as this helps them to be self-sufficient and provides them with confidence. Ma’am briefed about the importance of Setting Routine as this empowers children to be cooperative and motivated. It was rejuvenating to watch the mothers taking active part in the interactive discussions and activities which were the part of this invigorating workshop.

Speaking on the occasion, the Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati , revered Director , BBGS  said: “The mother is the best gift to the child from God. Mother’s Day is a suitable occasion to honour her contribution towards bringing up the child. These celebrations are aligned to our objective of saluting their relentless efforts in bringing up their children.”

Ms. Sushma Malhotra,  Primary Wing Incharge of the school thanked all the mothers for sparing their valuable time and being a part of the festivity .

POPCORN  ACTIVITY : EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING BY LKG STUDENTS

A child learns best  through his / her experience . Thus , It is important for the growing  child to experience simple discoveries through exploration which quenches  the  curiosity and hone the reasoning skills.  

 The activities in the  school are designed to give the little ones experience and enjoyment. “Popcorn Activity” was one such special activity conducted for class LKG to enhance the sensory skills of the students. They curiously heard and saw the corns pop and were delighted by the aroma eagerly waiting to touch them. They relished the warm yummy popcorns. The students  used all their five senses effectively and loved learning in a fun-filled way.

“TALK SHOW ON MY FRIEND”

“A LIFE WITHOUT FREINDSHIP IS LIKE A YEAR WITHOUT SUMMER.”

Young children need nourishing food to build physical strength, they also need linguistic nutrition for optimal development of language and cognitive abilities. Oral language is the foundation of literacy, and as such, it requires focused attention in planning.  When children hear more words, it helps to improve their understanding of language, and increases the number and variety of words that they can understand and use.

By developing special games and skill-building exercises , the mission of the school is  to contribute effectively  in  fostering the  child's language and cognitive development. A public speaking activity “TALK SHOW” helps in honing the communication and oratory skills in the youngsters. In sync with the same vision,  “Talk Show On My Friend” was conducted for Class LKG on May 02, 2018 wherein the students were given an opportunity to showcase their talent, gain stage confidence, enhance linguistic skills and develop vocabulary. Each student gave 2-3 lines presentation on the topic Mera Friend / My Friend. The students spoke confidently and participated with great zeal and enthusiasm.

HONOURING THE DIGNITY OF WORK : “ABHAAR” - LABOUR DAY CELEBRATION

Labour Day was celebrated in the school premises on May 1, 2018 to express  the  heartfelt gratitude to the support staff of the institution in recognition of the hard  labour put in by them.

Various games and activities were conducted in which all the employees participated with utmost enthusiasm and zeal. A special Morning Assembly in Hindi –‘Abhaar ‘ was organized emphasizing on the importance of the dignity of labour . The assembly was also attended by the support staff. The event started with a soulful rendition by Class I –II choir. The students presented a talk on the importance of this day and expressed their gratitude to the support staff.  Ms. Kavita  recited a soulful poem honouring the support staff for their relentless service in the smooth functioning of  the school . The students of the Primary Wing presented beautiful cards they had prepared to honour the most important members of the school system.

The most interesting fragment of the Assembly was when some members of the support staff were invited on stage to share their opinion about the day. It was amazing the see the inherent talent hibernating in them and the happiness on their faces when they were performing made the moment momentous.
