INTER HOUSE DEBATE COMPETITION TO MARK THE WORLD POPULATION DAY

“ Be the Change , you wish to see in the World “

Language is an effective medium for the communication of one’s thoughts and ideas, which reflects the purity of one’s innermost soul. To facilitate the quest for knowledge and the spirit of enquiry, various inter-house competitions are organized in the school. In sync with the same vision, an Inter House Debate Competition was organized  to mark the World Population Day on August 1, 2018 . The students articulated and presented their views on the topic – “ IS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AN OXYMORON.”

Human beings innately strive to understand their environment and the natural world. Within that framework they also strive to understand and interact with one another. In doing this, humanity has evolved & created new knowledge, new understanding, new technology, new ways of thinking & being. – It has developed. Living within a particular environmental context, developmental constraints and time and place have all contributed to the nature of their experience. The diversity of experience and perspective provides the opportunity for human progress at the very time that it offers the seeds of potential disaster if we view it negatively. The students focused on varied important issues like access to safe, voluntary family planning as a human right which  is also central to gender equality and women’s empowerment and also  a key factor in reducing poverty. It was an interesting battle of words which was adjudged by a panel comprising of English Faculty members of the Senior Wing. The Principal of the school appreciated the efforts of the participants by researching and presenting the content effectively . The result of the Competition was :-

WASTE MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP

WASTE MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP AT Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, SECTOR 10, GURUGRAM

TO ENLIGHTEN  STUDENTS ON  RECYCYLING AND REUSING THE RESOURCES

Blue Bells is an institution based on the strong foundation of the true values of life that believe in inculcating in children the resources that will endure lifelong.   Education in school is focused to tickle the fecund imagination of the students to innovative ideas and implement those to address the changing environment. In an effort to  enhance the sensitivity towards environment  the school actively organizes Workshops and Community Outreach Programmes to sensitize everyone on the core issues so that the change percolates to benefit the society and nation at large. In pursuance of  this mission , a session on Waste Management was organized for the students of Classes VII to IX in collaboration with  Ecogreen Energy and NGO Uthaan on July 30, 2018 . 

Ecogreen Energy is a leading waste management and a waste to Energy Company in India. Uthaan is a Gurgaon based Non Government Organization which is doing charitable work in fields such as Vermiculture, Organic Cultivation, Herbal planting, Animal welfare, Green movement and Conservation of non-renewable fossil fuels and Women Uplifment.

 The following areas were addressed in the Workshop like    Different Methods of Waste Management, importance to have Waste Management,  different types of Waste,   Principles of Waste Management,  Waste handling practices in India , Need for environment Conservation, Segregation of Bio-degradable waste, importance of Compost  and    Green  initiatives to conserve the resources .

Post workshop and presentation session, there was  a brief Quiz  Round  for the students to check for their understanding,   wherein they were  asked questions related to workshop and presentation. The students enthusiastically answered the questions testifying that they would actively participate in the mission of Reduce , Recycle and Reuse for replenishing the resources .

TINKERFEST 2018 : AN INNOVATION  HUB AT Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, SECTOR 10, GURUGRAM

Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog,   organized  the 48 Hours TINKERFEST on July 30 & 31 , 2018 in the school premises .   TinkerFest was  aimed at encouraging innovation among students, teaching them about product prototypes and developing problem solving and entrepreneurial skills. Students  were  trained hands-on in ideation methods, mechanical design and fabrication, microprocessor programming, basic electronics and presentation skills. As the school has the first functional Hi-Tech ATL Lab in Gurugram,  the students were  provided  a platform to explore, innovate & experiment with latest tech tools.  

Thirty students participated in the fest and transformed their ideas into working projects. Participants  developed projects like Air Ink, a device which converts carbon present in the air to an ink which can be used for writing. They showcased their projects on improving the Rain Water Harvesting System and developed an Automatic Irrigation System, that senses moisture in the soil and waters the plants accordingly.

The two day event started with a brief introduction about the tools and a long session of ideation in which all the participating students ideated their ideas with their mentors. The students received constant motivation and support from their mentors in this invigorating journey of exploration and innovation . On July 31, 2018 ,  teachers and students of Blue Bells Model School,  Sector 4 Gurugram  visited the school and heartily appreciated the efforts of young innovators .

Commit To Be Fit – Inter House Declamation Contest

             “Strong Convictions Preceed Great Actions”; reflecting upon the idea the Primary Wing of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School geared up for an Inter House Declamation Contest– Commit To Be Fit on July 25 , 2018. The aim of the contest was to sensitize the students about adopting a healthy lifestyle by having a proper fitness regime and eating healthy diet. Each participant energetically brought forth their views with conviction.  The listeners were impressed by the oratorical confidence exhibited by the participants as they voiced their opinion in strong and powerful words in neck to neck competition where each tried to outshine the other.               The competition was judged on the basis of their introduction, memorization, diction, delivery and content. The first prize was won by Tanya Sinha ( VB ) - Sarojini Naidu House, second prize was clinched by Moksh Prashar  ( V C ) - Radha Krishnan House and third position was bagged by Dishita Sharma (III C ) - Sarojini Naidu House.

Speaking on the occasion, Primary Wing Incharge Ms Sushma Malhotra said that such competitions help the students to improve their communication skills and learn the new ways of presenting their thoughts.

INCOME TAX DAY CELEBRATION

The Income Tax Department is celebrating Income Tax Day in India on July 24 to commemorate the occasion when the Governor General of India accorded to the bill levying the tax, introduced by James Wilson, the first Finance Member in Council, on 24th July 1860.  On this day,  the Income Tax Department rededicates itself to the people of India with the avowed objective of mobilizing optimum resources to build a modern, developed, vibrant and prosperous nation.

Honouring the contribution of the Income Tax Department in this  journey of development  , the school celebrated Income Tax Day on July 24, 2018 . Mr. Sudeep , Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Gurugram  visited the school and spoke to the students about the importance of taxes in improving the economy of the nation. A short documentary film on the journey of 158 years of income tax was shown to the Class XI and XII Commerce and Humanities Stream students .

The soul of the country speaks through its art. To mark this historic occasion, the students of Classes VI to VIII participated in a Drawing Competition on the theme- ‘CLEAN INDIA’ . The Best drawings were selected and sent to the IT Office  and the achievers will be rewarded by the Income Tax Department. Some of these paintings would also be put up in the Income Tax Office.

The celebration provided a platform to the students to showcase their inherent potential and root them to their country.

 CREATING AWARENESS ABOUT HEALTHY FOOD HABITS

Man is the master of his own health which is the only wealth . Balanced and nutritious diet is an essential ingredient for a healthy and harmonious growth of the child. The school believes in imbibing healthy food habits among the students for a healthy mind can reside only in a healthy body.

“Healthy people are those who live in healthy homes on a healthy diet”. With a focus on this important paradigm, the students of LKG   chose the theme ‘Eat Right to Live Right’ for their special assembly on July 20, 2018 wherein every student participated.

The students were briefed about  “Healthy and unhealthy Food” and  their  teacher briefed  them about the  benefits of eating healthy food and the  effects of eating unhealthy food. The students were also explained about the healthy snack they should carry in their Lunch Box every day so that they get nutrition as well as energy .

The assembly closed on a note EAT HEALTHY, FEEL HEALTHY and BE HEALTHY.

A CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS DENGUE AWARENESS MONTH

The role of schools has undergone a sea change in recent years. They are not just centres of learning but have become agents of bringing about a change in the mindsets of people by sensitizing them on certain relevant everyday social and environmental issues.  Schools impact the minds of the students through their varied programmes and bring about a change in the attitudes of the children, who in turn carry the message forward into the society.

Blue Bells has actively participated in reaching out to people on various health and environment related issues and contribute positively towards the service of the community. The Health and Wellness Programme of the school spearheaded by Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health and Wellness), Blue Bells Group of Schools organized a series of assemblies for students as a part of Dengue Awareness Month.

The aim of these assemblies was to bring in awareness amongst the students on how to fight against Dengue fever and other communicable diseases. This was an effort to sensitize the student community on the spread of the disease as well and its prevention and early diagnosis.

The assembly for the students of classes IX- XII was organized on July 20^, 2018,   for classes III- V on July 25, 2018,  and for classes VI- VIII on July 27, 2018.

The noteworthy feature of the assembly was that the whole programme was presented by the Health and Wellness Ambassador from class XII, Peer Mentor from class XI and Peer Educators from  classes VI- X, under the guidance of Health and Wellness Team.

The students were briefed through a skit about the symptoms of the disease and how it is caused. They were educated about the breeding condition of the mosquitoes and also about what could be done to reduce the risk of acquiring the disease. Through a Power Point Presentation various Dengue prevention techniques were shared like – Methods of Mosquito Control and Protection against bites. Reporting to the doctor in case of emergency was also stressed upon. The session was interactive and students shared their concerns with the facilitators. Health tips for the monsoon season were also shared with the students.

At the end of the session, a Quiz was conducted to check the understanding of the students about the disease and the response from the students was overwhelming. The students who responded correctly were rewarded.

The assembly ended on an inspiring note wherein the students observed that they would reach out to the people around them and share their learnings from the day, to combat the spread of Dengue.  It was a great learning experience for all.

INTER HOUSE COLLAGE MAKING  COMPETITION

“The ultimate victory in competition is derived from the inner satisfaction of knowing that you have done your best------“

Creativity involves stepping into the realm of imagination on a flight of fancy and an act of aesthetic creation is not only a product of toil, sweat and tears, but is also born out of an intense desire to give concrete shape to one’s dream. To represent the various ideals, principles and ideologies of their vision for India in 2020 and beyond ...., the students participated in Inter House Collage Making Competition for Classes VI to VIII on July 20, 2018 to mark the World Population Day . Two Teams per House competed in the event and showcased their commitment of heralding a new horizon for the nation . Under the able guidance of the House Mistresses , the students presented their facts and findings in an innovative and aesthetic manner. Their efforts were much appreciated by the esteemed panel of judges comprising of the Senior Art Faculty members of the school .

SALUTING THE DIVINITY OF FATHER

“A dad is someone who holds you when you cry, scolds you when you break the rules, shines with pride when you succeed, and has faith in you even when you fail…”

The heart of the father is the masterpiece of nature. To pay a solemn tribute to the divinity of father, who with his unfathomed love and unconditional support transforms the life of a child into a wonderful journey of achievement and accomplishment , the Primary Wing of Blue Bell Public School conducted a special assembly to celebrate Father’s Day – “To Dad With Love” on July 18 , 2018 . Students of class IV B presented a skit showcasing the bond between a father and child.

The Pre-primary choir sang out father’s day songs with heartwarming expression. Children exhibited their love for their fathers with a creative outlay of Hand painted Wooden Spatula Key Holders, Warli Art Decorated Phone Cover and Madhubani adorning the book organizers of their fathers. A dance presentation dedicated to the dads touched the hearts of all present at the assembly .
