Empowering Peer Educators: Standing Up to Bullying Through Awareness and Action

Peer Educator Workshop on Anti-Bullying

The Health & Wellness Programme, under the flagship of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS, established the Peer Educator Programme to foster a sense of community and belonging among students by promoting a positive attitude toward bullying prevention, mental health, and overall well-being.

The third session of the workshop, titled “Draw the Line: Stand Up to Bullying,” was conducted for the Peer Educators of BBGS on December 5, 2024, at BDBBPS, Sector 10, Gurugram.

The primary objective of the workshop was to educate Peer Educators about the effects of bullying and its impact on individuals. The Resource Center team focused on equipping the Peer Educators with various strategies to build their confidence and empower them to stand up to bullying effectively.

The session began with an engaging icebreaker activity, followed by a presentation on strategies to combat bullying and the roles of an upstander. Role-playing exercises were conducted to practice assertiveness, and students were also briefed on the Anti-Bullying Policy, which aims to prevent bullying incidents and ensure protection from any form of harassment.

Empowering students with knowledge and skills to address bullying can significantly reduce such incidents. The session included a discussion on the upcoming Symposium, emphasizing the importance of responsibility and ownership in making the Peer Educator Programme an effective initiative for promoting positive change.

The students expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Alka Saxena and her team and eagerly look forward to new learning opportunities and reaching greater heights.

Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School Hosts 'Genesis – Health & Wellness Fiesta'

In a bid to nurture a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment, Health & Wellness Team, of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School took a pioneering step by organizing Genesis – Health & Wellness Fiesta, an intra-school mega life skills event powered by Adept – A Program for Enhancing Life Skills, in collaboration with wellnesswise.in, on December 12, 2024.

Under the esteemed mentorship of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS, this initiative aims to empower the younger generation to unite against bullying. The event was aligned with World Mental Health Day 2024, and the students presented their symposium on the topic “Don’t Stand By, Stand Up, Stand Together: Let’s Unite to Stop Bullying and Create a Safe and Welcoming Environment for All.”

Adding a distinctive dimension, the two-day Symposium as part of Genesis 2024, was conducted under the school’s Peer Educator-Led Programme (PELP) framework wherein students of grade IX and XI emphasised the need to create a safe space for students, teachers, and staff towards bullying, its impacts, and strategies for prevention. The Preliminary round was conducted on December 10, 2024, which comprised of Eight Teams: Four teams from Grade IX and Four teams from Grade XI. The key takeaways were - Importance of empathy, Inclusivity, Role of bystanders, Effective communication strategies etc.

The top two teams from each class were finally selected to present their research findings on December12, 2024. The event provided a dynamic platform for these young changemakers to emphasize the importance of addressing bullying while fostering a culture of solidarity and compassion. The Peer Educators had further showcased a theme-based dance- drama presentation sensitizing the audience towards the impact of bullying on each stakeholder.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Alka Saxena congratulated each team on their outstanding presentations and collective efforts toward creating a bully-free environment. She further emphasized that as a community, we must set an inspiring example by demonstrating that the strongest people stand up for others. The School Principal, Dr. Trilok Singh Bist and Vice Principal, Ms. Roopali Kudesia addressed the audience to work together to find effective solutions to combat bullying.

HONOURING COURAGE AND SACRIFICE: VEER BAL DIWAS CELEBRATION AT BDBBPS

Veer Bal Diwas is a heartfelt tribute to the Sahibzadas, the four brave sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, whose unwavering courage and supreme sacrifices remain a shining testament to India’s fight for justice and faith. On December 26, 2024, BDBBPS honored their legacy with a day of reverence and reflection.

The celebration began with a moving special assembly, where students and teachers gathered to commemorate the Sahibzadas’ martyrdom. The assembly featured soulful prayers, patriotic songs, and the screening of an inspiring film that underscored the values of bravery and sacrifice. Students expressed their admiration through heartfelt essays and poems dedicated to the two young martyrs.

A range of engaging activities marked the occasion, including a thought-provoking quiz that deepened students’ understanding of the Sahibzadas’ extraordinary lives and sacrifices.

The event left an indelible impact, reminding everyone of the enduring significance of courage, sacrifice, and steadfast devotion to one’s principles. This cherished tradition serves as a beacon of inspiration, and we look forward to continuing it in the years to come.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

"The greatest gift we can give is the gift of love, kindness, and generosity."

The spirit of Christmas came alive as the Grade II students delivered a heartwarming assembly brimming with joy and compassion. Their enchanting presentation, ‘The True Meaning of the Season,’ celebrated the beauty of togetherness and the power of giving, reminding everyone of what truly matters during the festive season.

Grade V students added to the festive delight with a vibrant assembly. Dressed in cheerful shades of red and white, they mesmerized the audience with a touching skit that echoed the timeless values of selflessness, empathy, and support for one another.

Both assemblies offered a delightful talent showcase, featuring graceful dancers, melodious carollers, and a magical appearance by Santa Claus, who charmed everyone with his cheerful dance to the tune of Jingle Bells. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, music, and the infectious joy of celebration.

The School Leadership Team concluded the events with an inspiring message, urging everyone to embrace the true essence of Christmas through acts of kindness, gratitude, and unity, making the season even more meaningful for all.

Energy Conservation

SMALL STEPS, BIG IMPACT: A JOURNEY TOWARDS SUSTAINABILITY

In honour of Energy Conservation Day, the young minds of Classes UKG and III A came together to deliver impactful assemblies that emphasized the need for mindful actions to pave the way for a greener and more sustainable tomorrow.

The UKG students set the stage with a delightful presentation, sharing simple and practical tips for conserving energy. Their enthusiasm shone through a captivating song and a lively dance performance, demonstrating their dedication to eco-conscious living.

Meanwhile, the students of Class III A infused their assembly with wisdom and creativity. They used idioms like "A stitch in time saves nine" and "A penny saved is a penny earned" to drive home the importance of timely action in conserving resources. Dressed as various energy sources, the young advocates shared fascinating energy facts and recounted personal stories of how they save energy in their daily lives. A highlight of their performance was a spirited rap, depicting a lively debate between energy savers and energy spenders, leaving the audience both entertained and inspired.

The assemblies also marked a heartfelt tribute to the armed forces on the occasion of Vijay Diwas. An engaging video showcased the bravery and sacrifices of Indian soldiers, instilling a sense of gratitude and respect among the students.

The School Leadership Team urged students to recognize their role in protecting the planet and encouraged them to take meaningful actions that contribute to a sustainable future. Their words reinforced the belief that even small steps can lead to monumental change.

Swarm Robotics Workshop

A two-day Swarm Robotics Workshop was conducted for students of Classes VI to IX by Mr. Shubham Gupta from Vigyantram. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation, with 23 students from classes VI-IX registering and attending the sessions.

On Day 1, students were introduced to the fundamentals of Swarm Robotics, including its applications, hardware and software requirements, and Node MCU programming. The session laid a strong foundation for understanding the intricacies of swarm systems.

Day 2 focused on advanced topics, such as programming for swarm algorithms, path planning, and task allocation. Students also explored wireless communication modules, including RF transmitters and receivers. The session further delved into project preparation, covering essential steps like designing circuit layouts, selecting components, and testing the product.

As a hands-on project, participants developed a Wi-Fi Swarm Robot that replicated the movements of a team-controlled smart bot, demonstrating seamless behaviour mirroring. This engaging project showcased the students' newly acquired skills.

The workshop concluded with a written test to evaluate the participants’ understanding.

Selected teams will represent the school at the National Level Championship at IIT Delhi on January 11–12, 2025. The qualifiers teams are:

TRIP TO RANTHAMBORE

A Journey of Discovery: Exploring Nature, Heritage, and Art in Ranthambore

 To nurture holistic learning through exploration, a group of enthusiastic students from Classes III to V embarked on a three-day educational trip to Ranthambore, Rajasthan, on November 26, 2024. The trip was designed to instill an appreciation for nature, heritage, and the arts through hands-on experiences.

 A thrilling wildlife safari in Ranthambore National Park allowed students to witness the region’s rich biodiversity, including deer, wild boars, vibrant birds, and a rare black bear, while learning about conservation efforts from an expert guide.

 The majestic Ranthambore Fort and the serene Ganesh Temple offered glimpses into history and spirituality, while an enriching visit to Dastkar introduced students to India’s traditional crafts. A charcoal painting workshop further enriched their creative skills, encouraging artistic expression. This journey seamlessly blended education with real-world learning, leaving students inspired and enriched. The students returned with cherished memories and valuable lessons to stay with them forever.

Safe Touch Awareness Sessions

Building Confidence, Ensuring Safety: Safe Touch Awareness Sessions

‘The safety of children is not a privilege; it is a right. Empowering them with knowledge and confidence is the first step towards protecting that right.’

The Health & Wellness Programme of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, under the mentorship of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS organized a significant initiative to raise awareness about personal safety among students and fostering a sense of security and safety. From September to November 2024, a series of Safe Touch sessions were conducted for Primary and Middle school students during their Value Education & Life Skills Education classes to promote awareness of personal safety and security. The core objective of these sessions, which were tailored separately for boys and girls, was to educate students on recognizing potential risks in their environment and to empower them to understand the importance of maintaining & respecting personal boundaries.

In addition to discussing personal and stranger safety, the sessions provided information about the school’s health and wellness programmes, including access to counsellors and the Child Helpline Number, ensuring each student is aware of the available resources and seeks help when needed. Life Skills Facilitators played a key role in guiding open discussions and encouraging students to build self-confidence and consciousness. Overall, the sessions were a vital component of the school’s ongoing efforts to safeguard and support its students.
