The enhancement of physical and mental development of children is  the most important contribution of sports . It is  also a powerful tool that breaks down all the barriers and helps us feel good about ourselves, both physically and mentally. In pursuance of this objectiveand  to pay a tribute to our Founder Chairperson Shri B.D. Gulati ji , Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School proudly hosted the Shri. B. D. Gulati Memorial Table Tennis  Tournament 2018 under the aegis of GPSC on October 25 & 26, 2018.  Upholding the spirit of sports was the underlying theme.

The Opening Ceremony on October 25, 2018 commenced with a very well coordinated and disciplined March Past followed by the Oath Taking Ceremony where the student leaders of participating schools administered the oath to play the game in the right earnest. The salute of the marching contingents was taken by  Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati , revered Director , BBGS. Ma’am further declared the event open by playing the first ball of the first match  .   The students presented a breath taking dance on the theme –‘KHELO RE’ highlighting the significance of playing the sports with right sportsman spirit for optimum  gain and empowerment.

The Closing Ceremony Cum Valedictory Ceremony held on October 26, 2018 was  embellished with the illustrious presence of Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati, Director ,Blue Bells Group of Schools who   felicitated the winners of the Tournament.  The occasion was also graced by Dr. Alka Saxena , Deputy Director ( Health & Wellness), BBGS.   A mesmerizing dance performance highlighting the Unity in Diversity of India through games and sports added vibrance & fervor to the event.

DEEPAWALI CELEBRATION - BE THE LIGHT TO ENLIGHTEN THE WORLD

“All the lights of the world cannot be compared to the rays of the inner light. Merge yourself in this light and enjoy the supreme Deepavali with the enlightened self ”

The celebration of Deepavali- 'The festival of lights' came alive at the Primary Wing of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, Gurgaon on October 24, 2018 with the Special Assembly “Be The Light” conducted by Class IV A.

The assembly commenced with a melodious rendition “Deepawali Aayi Re”. Students of Class IV A presented a skit “Let Us Be the Light of Change” sensitizing the students about the ill-effects of crackers. They shared information about the ill effects of bursting crackers on Human Beings, Animals and Nature and ways to celebrate Eco Friendly Diwali . 

To carry the message of Green Diwali forward, a creative endeavour Inter House Art Competition –The Heritage of India was also conducted. Students made Monuments of India and wrote slogans about conserving the monuments from Land , Air and Noise pollution thus preserving the architectural marvels of India . Students adorned their classrooms and homes with a creative outlay of Ethnic Garlands and Mobile Craft using crepe paper as a part of Diwali activity.

Nature Walk

Hand in Hand with Nature

Knowledge is not limited to four walls of classroom and the text books only. Nature teaches a lot, if we are open to learn. In sync with the ongoing theme ' KNOWING PLANTS' the students of class LKG were taken to a nature walk. The little learners experienced the free-flowing environment to the fullest and their enthusiasm and curiosity is praiseworthy. The children were shown the difference between a tree and a plant and different types of plants. The facilitator encouraged them to touch and feel the smoothness of pebbles, roughness of bark and delicacy of leaves. They also observed the varying shapes of different leaves. They were also encouraged to share their experience like what they saw, heard and smell during nature walk.

DUSSEHRA CELEBRATION

‘Festivals are characterised by colour, gaiety, enthusiasm, prayers and rituals.’

Dussehra reminds us of the importance of goodness, fighting injustice and following the path of righteousness. According to the great Hindu epic Ramayana, Lord Ram killed Ravana on the tenth day that is Dussehra. It is called as triumph of virtue over sin or immorality.

Dussehra in Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School was celebrated with great enthusiasm.  Keeping the festive spirit alive, Pre Primary and Primary Wing  organized a special Assembly “Vedic Chants”on October 17, 2018.

The students of Class V A recited sholkas and shared the origin and importance of the four Vedas. The students of Class II presented a Skit and a Talk Show on the Importance of Knowing our Culture and Value System. School choir rendered a spiritual song “Shri Ram GharAayo” adding to the festive spirit .The assembly concluded with a Dandiya Dance enthralling one and all present .

CAREER CONFLUENCE

In sync with the same objective and  to sensitize the students  and parents about the various career options available, the school organizes Career Confluence every year under the aegis of The Health & Wellness Programme under the patronage of  Dr. Alka Saxena , Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS. This event was conducted on October 12 & 13, 2018 .

The  Session  for the students of Classes XI  and XII  on  Career Choices & Selection  was organized on October 12 , 2018. Sanjeeta Kumar , Health & Wellness Ambassador & Irijiya Kalra , Peer Mentor  welcomed Ms. Gagandeep Kaur, Director, Unique Psychological Services (UPS) to conduct this session. Ma’am  is a Presidential Double Gold Medalist and a Child and  Clinical Psychologist with a rich experience of more than 10 years.

The students were briefed about Making Career Decisions by eliciting 10-14 parameters which helps one to decide one’s career along with identifying and acknowledging strengths, weaknesses, abilities, interests, skills and various other factors. Common pitfalls with their psycho-social impact were explained. The students were given information about various Stream based career options along with examples like Careers based on Science, Commerce and Humanities Stream.  The students were apprised about New Age Career options  like Vocational Careers, Skill Based Careers , Career beyond and across different Streams .

The school organized a session on Career Counselling for the Parents of the students studying in Classes IX to XII on October 13, 2018 where they were welcomes by Mrs. Arpita Acharya, Vice Principal, Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School. The main motive of this session was to help them to understand the various career options available so that they can  help their ward choose an option based on his/her  aptitude, interest and passion. The last part of the session was an OPEN HOUSE where the parents were apprised of the new avenues and they were satisfied with the appropriate information of the options available in this global scenario. The parents were also appraised of the school’s Career Counselling Committee, headed by Ms. Sushma Tyagi.

ASTRONOMY SESSION MODULE II AT MAHASEER FISHING CAMP

  “Look at the sky. We are not alone. The whole universe is friendly to us and conspires only to give the best to those who dream and work.” –APJ Abdul Kalam.

Since the beginning of time, universe has offered so much to explore and to learn from. Humans have always been intrigued and amazed by the wonders of the night sky. As a science, it has lead the way in overturning ancient notions of how nature should behave. At one time we believed ourselves to be at the centre of the Universe, with all objects, including the Sun, revolving around the Earth. Astronomers through the ages slowly revealed a different truth. Astronomy has revolutionized our understanding of nature and it will continue to do so. To sensitize the students about the thrill and  excitement of learning about the night sky , the students of the Astronomy Club left for Astronomy Club (MODULE- II) at Mahasheer Fishing Camp, Marchula, Ram Nagar, Uttarakhand from October 12 , 2018 to October 15, 2018.  

The philosophy of the Module was  ‘I do - I understand; I understand – I learn.’ The school was teamed up with Genesis Global School , New Delhi. The students were divided into various teams: TEAM – Columbia & TEAM – Apollo (For BBPS, Gurgaon). Some adventure activities like Burma Bridge, Rock Climbing, Trampoline, etc were enjoyed by the students.

The main Session started when the Faculty from Z - Life shared the information about the Universe. They taught the students how to read and understand ‘PLANISHHERE’, also there were some tasks in which the students were first supposed to solve some brain teasers related to Astronomy & Universe and then make  Hot Air Balloons  by using the way substances like plastic bags, aluminum foil , candles,  straw , etc the students  made the hot air balloon and  launched the same. The balloon was also decorated along with various slogans and drawings).

The students were also guided about  Pin Hole Camera. They were given boxes, paints, loader, tapes and other required substances and were asked to prepare a pinhole camera. Each team prepared their camera with difference in shutter time ( the time duration for which the screen has to be opened so that the pictures can be obtained on the pinhole camera). Later by using various chemicals these pictures were also developed by the students in the dark room after the Astrophotography session.

After learning more about Astrophotography , the students learnt the use of Stellarium App and Sky Map and  they located the two stars VEGA and DENIB stars from the Galaxy. This was then followed by Deep Sky Observation where the  students saw Saturn with its Ring, Jupiter ,Venus ,craters of moon, Milky way Galaxy. In fact,  Milky Way Galaxy could be seen by naked eyes also , but for exact  details the same was shown on Telescope also.

The students relished not only the activities but also the services being provided by the camp authorities. Everyone became nostalgic on the closing day of the tour as no one wanted to move out of these fun filled, energetic & rejuvenated days.  It was a mesmerizing and energizing experience for all the members.

CAREER CONFLUENCE

A hallmark of Blue Bells education is the modelling of a cheerful openness to life and accepting the unexpected challenges  that might come our way. There is a concerted effort to involve students in the broader streams of life outside the classroom so that they are able to apply their learning in the real world. Education is an integral process which harmonizes book learning with direct life experiences and helps students to achieve their full potential.

In sync with the same objective and  to sensitize the students about the various career options available , the school organizes Career Confluence every year under the aegis of The Health & Wellness Programme spearheaded by Dr. Alka Saxena , Deputy Director ( Health & Wellness), BBGS. The First Session of the same was organized  for the students of Classes IX and X on Stream Selection on October 5, 2018 .

Gandhi - Shashtri Jayanti is celebrated by the nation to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatama Gandhi and Sh. Lal Bahadur Shashtri on October 2. The Primary Wing of our School paid homage to the noble souls with a special assembly “ My Life Is My Message ” on October 03, 2018.

The highlight of the assembly was anecdotes from Gandhiji’s life as a skit by the students of class V-B. The skit depicted Gandhiji’s life and how his principles guided the country towards becoming an independent nation. The exercise gave the children an insight into the life and times of Gandhiji and encouraged them to think about the values of not just freedom but also to keep the country clean.

The students also presented a talk on the life of Sh. Lal Bahadur Shashtri aiming at the power of unity and discipline to forge ahead in life. The assembly concluded with a special rendition to pay reverence to the leaders of the nation.

STAND FOR KERALA FLOODS : A GENEROUS CONTRIBUTION BY Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School IN THE KERALA CHIEF MINISTER’S RELIEF FUND

 Pursuit of excellence with sincerity of purpose is what we at Blue Bells strive for. We , at Blue Bells  understand that empathy is the most essential quality of civilization. Be it a natural catastrophe or a social concern, we never fail to offer our moral and material support in the hour of need.

 Kofi Annan has rightly said that empowered youth can be the key agents for development and peace. The more the commitment and participation of youth, higher are the hopes for a better society. The Blue Bellians always reach out to the society to bring positive social changes. In sync with the same vison and alarming condition that arose due to Kerala Floods , the School Management , teachers and students heartily contributed for the Chief Minister’s Kerala Relief Fund to actively contribute in the resurging of the state to normal life. The members of the school dedicated their one day salary and the parents supported the school in this humble initiative to give back to the society in the time of need .

This testified the belief of the school  that for education to be complete, it must include not only the training of the intellect but also the refinement of the heart and the discipline of the spirit. This Community Outreach Programme provided a  conscious, relevant opportunity to enable us to acquire knowledge, skills and the habits of mind and heart that will certainly help us in becoming confident individuals and responsible citizens
