BLUE BELLIANS LAUNCH THE SCHOOL BULLETIN

It gives us immense pleasure to share that the first edition of the school news bulletin- 'Abhivyakti' was launched today with much enthusiasm.

Dr. Rakshit Tandon, Cyber Security Evangelist and respected Principal, Dr. Trilok Singh Bist and the other members of the leadership team inaugurated the news bulletin, and congratulated the students for their stupendous effort. Dr. Tandon called it a marvelous initiative and wished good luckto the students. He also encouraged them to include content on cyber hygiene.

'Abhivyakti' is a creative fortnightly initiative of the students, for the students and by the students. They have included school, national, international, sports news, book reviews and interviews in this bulletin. It also has a special Creative Corner, which has given the students a platform to express their thoughts freely, right from the juniors of Class III to the seniors in Class XII. 'Abhivyakti' will be published fortnightly, and the students are determined to ensure that it is a wholesome and enriching read for everyone alike.

CYBER SAFETY WORKSHOP

‘Cyber Security is a shared responsibility. The more alert and informed we are, the more secure we are.’

In today’s digital age, where we’re more connected to the internet than ever, cyber security has become an essential part of our daily lives. With so many cybercrimes popping up every day, protecting our information and data has become a great necessity. To raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and provide essential knowledge and tips to the teachers to ensure their online safety, a Cyber Safety Workshop was conducted by Dr. Rakshit Tandon, a renowned Cyber Security Expert on May 27, 2023 for the staff members of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, The Blue Bells School for Integrated Learning and Beansprouts School, Sector 50. The initiative of this much-needed session was taken by Madam Anshuka Aneja, Deputy Director, IT, Blue Bells Group of Schools.

The session commenced with the ceremonial diya lighting. Dr. Trilok Singh Bist, Principal, welcomed the august gathering. With the help of recent cybercrime cases, Dr. Tandon highlighted the importance of being aware and cautious in the digital world. He urged everyone to take cyber safety seriously and protect themselves from potential dangers online.

Sir mentioned Online gaming is a common addiction visible amongst the younger generation and has turned into a disease of gaming disorder. Age rating must be considered while playing any game or consuming any type of content on the internet. 12-year-old children playing games like COD which are 16+, is a major concern.

A child must ensure that he/she consumes only age-related content and has a healthy digital diet.

Our brain is a receptor. Online gaming has turned the younger generation more violent and impatient. Children even spend money on such games without the consent of their parents. This can result in online fraud. Sir gave the example of a teen who spent 36 Lakh on online gaming without the consent of his father, a retired army jawan.

Another major cyber threat is the use video call & screen recording during video call. People chat with unknown people on the internet who may turn out to be cyber criminals. They take control over the minds of the young children and force them into doing inappropriate actions.

He apprised everyone to infrain from clicking on any anonymous link. Virustotal.com is a website used to check links for viruses.

Safety features gmail, 2-step verification , Pass key and “who can add you as friend” set to “only friend of friend.“Stranger is Danger” must be kept in mind while using any social media platform. Social Media addiction is even dangerous than drugs.

All our social media accounts must be private, have a strong password and encrypted with 2-step verification.

Haveibeenpwned.com is a website used to check emails for online data breaches.

Any form of impersonation/ identity theft must be reported on 1930 and stopped immediately.

All our digital activity is stored in the form of digital footprints that cannot be deleted. So, we must be very cautious while doing any unethical work.

The session concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Ms. Anju Luthra, Senior IT Faculty & Cyber Congress Incharge of the school. She thanked Rakshit Sir for such an enlightening session.

WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY

 ‘The tobacco plantation is a menace which is poisoning our planet incessantly...’

The growing food crisis in the world is a repercussion of conflicts and wars, climatic shocks, and the economic and social impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Here, the choice of growing Tobacco crops by the farmers for economic gain adds to the woes and increased food insecurity. With a vision to sensitize all stakeholders about the ill effects of Tobacco use and plantations, ‘World No Tobacco Day’, was celebrated in the school on May 23, 2023, on the theme – ‘We need Food, not Tobacco.’

A Special Morning Assembly was organized by the Health & Wellness Team under the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS for Classes VI-VIII and IX-XII respectively. Assembly moderated by the Peer Educators of Classes VII-X and the focus of the assemblies was to create awareness among the students and teachers on the harmful effect caused due to excessive plantation of tobacco for material profits. Mansi Chauhan presented her award-winning placard, which she curated for the Inter-School Competition by the Indian Cancer Society on the theme of WNTD2023 - ‘We need food, not Tobacco.’ The senior students also presented a ‘Skit’ on the same theme and showcased how the yield of tobacco is harming the environment and is becoming the cause of pain and misery later. Priyanshi Yadav, Health & Wellness Ambassador, BDBBPS shared her view and facts about harmful effects of using tobacco and she further requested each and every member of the august gathering to take a Pledge on World No Tobacco Day and be committed to ‘Say No to Tobacco.’ Dr. Saxena addressed the gathering and made them understand the cause and ill effects of tobacco use and how being a sensitive individual each one can spread awareness and make informed choices and decisions. The Assembly closed on a promising note with a SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN, which was given a befitting start, by our mentor Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS. Thereafter, Dr. Trilok Singh Bist, Principal, Wing In-charges, Health & Wellness team members, teachers, and students filled the pledge with creative stickers and further created awareness on this core issue. The overwhelming response to the indigenous endeavour motivated the team for future ventures.  

ADVENTURE TRIP TO CHAIL

"And then I realised, Adventures are the best way to learn!"

The excited students of Classes VI to VIII of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School reached their destination Chail, Himachal Pradesh for a 5-day long adventurous camping trip on May 26, 2023, after an exciting overnight journey. The first thing that captured the attention of the students was the beauty of nature. The resort was located in the lap of nature amidst the apple orchards. Camp premises were fenced, well-lit and had 24-hour power backup.

The days were divided into 5 phases that aligned with the natural body clock of the students. An hour of exercise which included stretching, jogging, push-ups, sit-ups etc. acted as a perfect warm-up for the tough physical activities that awaited. The camp had trained and first-aid-certified staff to ensure that the participants are safe and engaged. The food provided was delicious and had all the constituents of a balanced diet. Apart from the major meals, students were also provided with energy drinks and snacks at regular intervals.

The camp offered a break to the students from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It made experiential learning authentic and safe. The plethora of activities like Rappling, Trekking, Rope Climbing, and Guerilla War held at the Camp posed sufficient challenges according to the age and level of students while providing a memorable and adventurous experience. The most magnificent part of the camp was the Star Gazing activity.

By working together, the students learnt the importance of teamwork; identified their strengths, challenged their fears, and became confident and responsible individuals. Students explored the jungle and were given the feeling of raw living as they learnt about survival skills. They were given tips and tricks for making shelters, finding water underground, etc. From the figure of eight to the clove hitch, students learnt about various adventure knots used in mountaineering. In the last hours of the day, Students were encouraged to pen down their thoughts in the form of journal writing. On the last day, the students were appreciated with the titles like Best Tent, Best Navigator, Most Disciplined Group and many more. The children reached back to school on May 29, 2023, with smiling faces. The time the children spent amidst nature and the valuable insight the children got from the Chail Rocksport Camp brought the children back as changed, confident and more fearless people.

INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY CELEBRATION

International Museum Day is an annual event celebrated worldwide on May 18 to raise awareness about the importance of museums in society. It provides an opportunity to highlight the role of museums as cultural institutions that preserve and promote art, history, science, and other forms of heritage. To mark this day, a special assembly was organized by the students of Class VII B.

The assembly started with the Morning Prayer followed by thought and pledge. An informative play was shown by the students. The play served as a reminder towards the need to protect and preserve cultural heritage sites and artifacts, ensuring their conservation for future generations. A self-composed RAP song was also presented in the assembly. The RAP showcased how Museums can stimulate tourism, generate employment opportunities, and contribute to local economies.

Also, the Olympiad winners of different categories were given the medals and certificates. Respected Principal, Dr. Trilok Singh Bist congratulated the achievers and motivated other students to take part in such competitive exams.

NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY DAY

National Technology Day is celebrated annually in the month of May in honour of India's scientists and their accomplishments. The day commemorates the successful nuclear detonation tests in May 1998.

Students of Class VII A presented a wonderful assembly catering to the theme on May 18, 2023. The motive of the assembly was to spread awareness about science and technology among the students. The students, through a play, showcased how our country has witnessed a significant development in science and research in the last three decades. It is the technology that has improved the status of the country on global platforms. A scintillating dance performance was also presented by the children.

The students were encouraged to come forward and achieve something great for the society.

International Day of Families or International Family Day, is a global observance that’s celebrated each year on May 15th. The day celebrates the importance of families, people, society, and cultures around the world.

 Its aim is to raise awareness of issues relating to families across the globe while giving attention to the fact that families are the basic unit of society.

 To mark this day, the students of Class X D organized a Special Assembly. Along with the regular features, they presented a self-composed poem, speech, and an informative quiz, all on the importance of families. The students also created a beautiful movie highlighting the importance of being grateful for our own families.

 The members of the Leadership Team lauded the efforts of the students and encouraged them to value their families more than ever.

SCOUTS AND GUIDE CAMP (MIDDLE WING)

Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School organised a three-day long Scouts and Guides camp for the students of Classes VI to VIII. The aim of the camp is to inculcate practical knowledge into children to enhance their overall development and improve their behaviour. The students started their first day at the camp with utmost zeal and enthusiasm. Different kinds of hand signals with voice signals were taught to the children. The students also learned different tricks with ropes and most importantly, they got acquainted with the methods of providing first aid in cases of a medical emergency. Over a period of three days, the students learned about types of whistles, various claps, and many other skills. The students were taught the meaning of reporting and the correct way to report. They also learned different types of salutes as each salute carries a different and unique meaning.

 During the Scout Meetings held on all three days, the students were taught the Scout sign, flag, left handshake, whistle signals, measuring distance, tying knots, and their uses with First aid and safety rules. All through the activities, there was an eagerness amongst the children to learn more new things and get new experiences. The students really enjoyed getting pictures clicked with different Patrols and seniors.

The camp was a memorable experience for the children as they learned life skills through this program.

MOTHER’S DAY

To celebrate the unconditional love and selflessness of the miracle created by the Almighty called ‘Mom’, Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School celebrated Mother’s Day on May 13, 2023.

The celebrations began with an emotional rendition of a song by the choir which was truly an ode to the selfless love of mothers.

The strength, wisdom, and love that the mothers personify was clearly evident in the way they participated in all the activities curated for them to make their day a super special one. The activities included a basketball match where the 'Dribbling Divas' showcased their agility and left everyone astounded with their skills. In Fusion Dance Activity, mothers accepted the challenge whole-heartedly and gave breathtaking performances. The ‘Trash to Trendy’ Activity had moms walking the ramp in style, wearing gorgeous dresses they had made from trash showcasing their creativity and imagination. There were many more fun activities which left all moms with a very big smile on their faces.

The event culminated with a beautiful and heartwarming dance performance by the students of Grades Pre-Nursery and upwards that left everyone awestruck. To make the mothers feel pampered and appreciated, they were given beautiful takeaways. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Trilok Singh Bist, Principal, thanked all the mothers for sparing their valuable time and being a part of the celebration.
