Class I- Educational trip to Plant Nursery

“An educational trip is a combination of both fun and learning”. Earth planet is also called the “Green Planet” due to presence of plants on it. To instil the value of plants and explain the theme “Plants Around Us”, a trip to Plant Nursery was organised for Grade I, BLUE BELLS PUBLIC SCHOOL.on December 19, 2018.

They visited a plant Nursery located in sec 14 opposite to Air Force Station. Students loved to see different types of plants. They were told about the different plant varieties and it’s use. They were shown medicinal plants like Tulsi, Neem etc. They were guided about ways to take care of plants.

The students thoroughly enjoyed the trip. It was a wonderful learning experience for them. The trip was a memorable experience for the little ones.

Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School ORGANIZED MUN 2018

“Great opportunities seldom come without us seeking them, but such a rarity did become a reality.”

BBPSMUN  conducted on December 19, 2018 , was extremely exciting for both the organizers and the participants. The students from Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School took part in these simulations and staged a model performance of the actual event. This process was very enriching for all the members of the team, in terms of gaining vital insight into the politics and diplomacy of today’s world.

The platform got bigger this year with 6 committees as its part namely – The Union of European Football Association (UEFA), United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), United Nations Security Council (UNSC), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), United Nations General Assembly(UNGA), All India Political Party Meet (AIPPM). The students from class eighth(8) to eleventh (11) participated in the one-day long conference and portrayed their debating and analytical skills.

 The chair effectively and firmly stated the rules and asked everyone to maintain the decorum of the conference room which was followed by the delegates religiously. The delegates and the chair were enthusiastic and willing to start the conference. The Executive Board(EB) also highlighted about the chapter seven of UN Charter which says to 1. Determine 2. Challenge and effect 3. Propose solutions.

 They started with the GSL round in which the country’s stance on the issues that were to be discussed in the committee. All the delegates agreed on the global issues that were to reduce and eradicate conflicts. the importance of stake holders in tackling the global issues. They were  enthusiastic and the chair and the delegates had amazing coordination and understanding .

The day ended on a high note for all the participants as productive and constructive debates seemed to be paving the way for genuine solutions to the problems under discussion by the various committees. By the end of the session in each committee, the delegates had come up with a Draft Resolution which was passed unanimously.

A team of cartoonists (Priyanka and Himanshi) also showcased their efforts through the caricatures designed by them. The alumni of the school Ms. Linima, Ms. Shubha and Mr. Prashaurya came to enlighten the delegates as well as the EB.

With the coordinated efforts of the entire team , the event was a grand success.

STAFF PICNIC TO  RAMGARH FARMS

Each and every day of life is filled with a unique learning experience that makes our existence worth. Human life incorporates learning, we learn from our surroundings and environment and this enriching phase makes us a wholesome personality.

The staff members of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School rejoiced themselves in the lap of Mother Nature at Ramgarh Farm , Village Chandu , Farukh Nagar , Gurugram  on December 15, 2018 . The trip was organized by the Management of the school. Apart from relaxation and enjoyment,  the picnic also aimed at building up team spirit among the members of the staff. It was one of the endeavours to bring the teaching faculty of the school closer which will further result in better understanding and coordination.

The journey to the Farm was an enjoyable one, both due to the exquisite village scenery on the way and the dancing and singing in the bus by the teachers.  The teachers actively participated in various adventure activities -Music and DJ,  Burma bridge, Commando Net, Tyre Glider, . Tyre Wall, Badminton &  Volleyball etc.

The outing refreshed and rejuvenated all and  has left indelible imprint in the heart of all the members with the memories that will be cherished forever.

Travel expands your horizons and school life cannot be complete without the fun of educational tours and excursions. These trips are tailor made to facilitate the students to know and understand the real, multicultural world. A host of activities are undertaken as a part of trips which act as a catalyst to think out of the box and broaden the outlook. The school discreetly organizes educational trips to strategically important places and facilitates for students to reach out for information beyond the text books.

In pursuance of the same vision, the School organized  a “Learning Outside Classroom” , outdoor trip for Classes IX to XII on 14 December 2018 to Pratapgarh Farms, a safe and secure place full of adventure, learning and fun amid the rolling green farmlands in the Jhajjar town.

The students were divided into different teams mentored by the trained members of the Farms . There were several Hands on Experience and Projects that students experienced such as Agriculture, Vegetable Cultivation, Dairy Farming, Poultry Farming, Waste Management, Pottery, Water Harvesting, Waste Management, etc. The students were also sensitized to rural settings and saw village lifestyles. They enjoyed a host of activities and rides such as camel ride, bullock cart ride, , tug of war, blind alley games, Crossing the Burma Bridge, Trampoline jump, drawing well water, Commando net , Cat walk ,Double ride bridge ,Tarzan swing ,Rope ladders , Archery ,Dart ,Gun shooting ,Animals like emu , hen , pigeon goat etc 

This was one of a kind of experience for most of the students who have had no such exposure to this kind of a mix of urban and rural setting. The sumptuous layout of the delicacies for the Breakfast, Lunch and evening snacks was relished by all the members of the school team. It was a day filled with adventure and helped the team to build a strong connect with each other.

 All the students loved the same and came back very bonded and happy.

Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School is committed to its mission of promoting quality education by adopting innovative ways of teaching. In sync with the same mission of imparting quality education and making it a pleasurable journey for the student, the school is planning to organize “BBMUN’18- CHANGE THE WORLD”, An Intra School MUN for the students of Classes VIII and IX.

Model UN is unlike any other school-level competition. It doesn't just test your skills with diplomacy, research and negotiation; it equips you with them so that you can better face the real world. You begin MUN and you will never be the same.

 For the same purpose, various sessions were conducted by the students of Class XI.

The students who took the sessions are as follows:

The sessions aimed at informing the students about the agenda of the committees and proceedings of the committees. The students were allotted their committees. They were asked to search about the agenda and get an understanding of it so that it would be easy for them to search about their respective countries. The students were further explained the key points that will be helpful at time of doing research for their agenda. The students thoroughly enjoyed the session.

Trip to Qutub Minar

History comes to life when we visit historical places along with our peers. The same we saw when our young Blue Bellians from class Nursery were taken to Qutub Minar on 11th Dec 2018. Their excitement and curiosity knew no bounds after seeing the magnificence and architecture of bygone era. It seemed they wanted to know everything about it and teachers happily answered their innocent queries. Students returned to school at 2:30 P.M. Afterwards a reflection sheet was given to them for recapitulation. There is no doubt that the trip was not only a fun-filled experience but also facilitated experiential learning.

MATH-E-MAGIC - AN INTRA SCHOOL MATHEMATICS FEST 2018

HONING ANALYTICAL , LOGICAL & COMPUTING SKILLS :

MATH-E-MAGIC - AN INTRA SCHOOL MATHEMATICS FEST 2018

Mathematics is  the unshaken Foundation of Sciences, and the plentiful Fountain of Advantage to human affairs. 

The main goal of Mathematics education in schools is the mathematisation of the child’s thinking. Clarity of thought and pursuing assumptions to logical conclusions is central to the mathematical enterprise. To pay tribute to the great Mathematician Sir S. Ramanujam, the school organized Math-E-Magic – an Intra School Mathematics Fest for the students of Classes VI-X  from December 11-18,  2018. Diverse activities were designed by the Mathematics Faculty members for the students under the guidance of Ms. Arpita Acharya , Vice Principal & HOD-Mathematics , Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School.

The main objective was to bring in a fun element and excitement in learning Mathematics with creativity. The students were exposed to the latest tools in Mathematics and were encouraged to implement the philosophy of imagine, investigate and interact. The students thoroughly enjoyed the activities and found it an enriching experience. The day wise and class wise activity schedule was religiously followed by the students and they felt exhilarated after completing their projects as it gave vent to their creative skills with the effective blending of Mathematics.

In sync with the same objective, the school hosted  Math-E-Magician -an Intra  School Mathematics Quiz  on December 18, 2018 in collaboration with NIIT as a part of the Mathematics Fest  .The first round of Math-E-Magician was a Qualifier Round and the selected teams were chosen for the Final Stage  Round which comprised of four rounds wherein students not only adopted practical methods of learning but also assessed their knowledge  of theoretical concepts. The students of Classes VI to IX also participated in the Rubik Cube Challenge and displayed their analytical skills with utmost perfection and speed.

The Closing Ceremony-Cum – Valedictory Function of this mega event was graced by Ms. Richa Akhil, Deputy Director , NIIT Ltd. who was the revered Guest for the occasion. She appreciated the event and expressed that such events need to be more frequently organized as they contribute in enhancing the analytical and cognitive skills of the students.

It was a very good learning experience for all the students involved.

Sports have been a mainstay in millions of  lives for over the  years. Sports events have been instrumental in developing a sense of friendliness and team spirit among the children.

The Pre-primary Wing of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School presented Annual Sports Fiesta – “Sportsthalon” on December 08, 2018 in the school ground.The students from classes Nursery-II participated in the event with great zeal and enthusiasm.

The occasion was blessed with the pristine presence of Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati, esteemed Director, BBGS. Madam Soumya Gulati, Deputy Director ( Academic Development & Innovation), BBGS graced the occasion as a revered Guest. Our Sports Mascot ‘Playphal’ along with his buddy cheerleaders welcomed Director Ma’am by presenting a badge and wristband. Director Madam declared the Sports Meet Open by untying the clapper.

Under the initiative and guidance of Madam Soumya Gulati, Deputy Director (Academic Development and Innovations), BBGS, the Learning & Development team organized GALLERY WALK showcasing the learning outcomes through models, activity sheets and boards based on  progression of Classes I and II on the theme -‘Animal World’ and thematic interdisciplinary approach on ‘Landforms’ for class I  and People Who Help Us’ for class II . A parental corner was created to acquaint the parents  with the change in pedagogies adopted by the school to bring in innovative practices to enhance the learning process.Photo gallery and Scroll displays were the special features wherein work and photographs of every student was covered for the parents to appreciate the involvement of their ward in multifarious activities .The integration of the theme ‘Animal World’ was even visible on the field in ‘SPORTSTHALON’.

The Health & Wellness Team spearheaded by Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS,  presented an overview of the Health & Wellness Programme  . The display explicitly showcased the ideology of the programme on  enhancing  Early Education, Value Education through School Cinema and Awareness on Safe Touch which  works towards holistic development and would help in inculcating values and Life Skills. It also gave a fitting glimpse of various activities , sessions and Programmes conducted by the team.

The celebration of the Sports Fiesta commenced by invoking the blessings of the divine with Shloka Chanting and a Welcome Song by the Pre-Primary Wing Choir.Ms. Arpita Acharya, Vice Principal accorded a warm welcome to all the dignitaries and parents.The students entered into the spirit of the occasion in a grand way with a caravan of bicycles, cars and sports enthusiasts dressed up representing various sports.The entire playground was decorated with flags, buntings and balloons adding to the fervor.

The students of classes Nursery to II competed Class-wise in various events including Theme Based Sprints, Obstacle Races and Relay Race. All the races like Humpty Race, Bean Bag Race, Ball Balancing , Sport It Up, Master Chef and Tool Task were integrated with different subjects to enhance kinesthetic, loco-motor, cognitive, balancing , spatial and visual skills .A Sports Parade and a Marshal of drills using Flags, Parachute and Pom-Pom set the tone for the rest of the event.

Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati, esteemed Director, BBGS felicitated the winners with medals and congratulated the students for the marvelous presentation and wished all the Blue Bellians to be the custodians of rich sportsman spirit. Director Madam thanked all the parents for sparing their valuable time and being a part of the festivity. The Primary Wing Incharge Ms. Sushma Malhotra presented the Annual Report and achievements of the Pre-Primary Wing. She also proposed the Vote of Thanks.

The event concluded with an energetic and peppy dance presentation. The vibrant performances of the students were heartily appreciated and applauded by all.

DISTRESS TO DE-STRESS: HANDLING EXAMINATION STRESS

During examinations, it is important for the students to be in a calm state of mind and to deal with any emotion which may be causing distress. To address the feelings and concerns of students and to help them manage their emotions; The Health & Wellness Resource Centre team prepared an interactive module for the students. The session to deal with Examination Stress was conducted for the students of Class XII on December 5, 7, & 20, Class XI on December 24, and Class X on December 10 & 24, 2018 respectively.

The session included a brief about signs and symptoms of stress so that one can identify stress along with some internal and external factors that may lead to stress during examinations. The objective was to facilitate students to become aware of automatic negative thoughts and acquire helpful and adaptive ways to manage and deal with stress during exams.

Prioritizing of tasks was also taken up to emphasize on giving importance to revision time along with identifying time consuming tasks so that they can be better prepared.

The students were apprised about three steps of planning their time effectively. At first making an overall planner, followed by a weekly time-table and then listing the daily things to do. These can be made keeping a SMART time-table in mind where ‘S’ stand for Specific, ‘M’ for Measurable, ‘A’ for Achievable, ‘R’ for Realistic, ‘T’ for Time-Bound.

The students understood the three learning styles that were shared with them, which were: Word smart, Picture smart and Number smart. They were encouraged to identify their own learning style and incorporate them so that their learning and recalling become efficient.

The students were encouraged to identify the time wasters they face, like phone calls, social networking, poor planning, cluttered desk and procrastination; especially when they are preparing for their examinations. These were followed by tips that can help them to increase their productivity.

In order to improve students’ concentration span, a few concentration exercises were conducted. These exercises were appreciated by the students as they all participated enthusiastically. These exercises were followed by a short progressive muscular relaxation and guided imagery. Both of which helped them to feel calm and relaxed, which will later help them in increasing their concentration.

The importance of a healthy lifestyle, which includes a balanced diet, regular exercises and good sleeping habits, was also emphasized upon. The harmful effects that simulating activities like T.V., phones, video games, arguments, etc. can have before sleeping was also discussed.

The session concluded on a positive note where it was shared with the students that they could connect individually with the counsellors for any further support.

BEEHIVE OF INNOVATION , CYBERSPAZE 2018: AN INTRA SCHOOL IT FEST AT Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School , SECTOR 10, GURUGRAM

Technological advancements in the world have been possible due to innovative thinking, original concepts, original ideas and a broad vision.  The school organized Cybersapze 2018, an Intra School IT Fest  from December 3 to December 5, 2018 , to provide a unique learning platform to the students to hone their tech skills. The competition , an annual feature of the school , is a beehive of science and technological activity where the objective is to cultivate the creative spirit , practical ability and encourage outstanding talents among the students .

The Opening Ceremony for this Mega Fest on December 3, 2018   was graced by the benign presence of Mrs. Anshuka Aneja, Deputy Director  IT, BBGS . After Ceremonial lighting of the diya to mark the auspicious beginning of the Event , a Workshop on design and programming was organized in collaboration with MindBox for the students .

Varied types  of Tech events were organized for the students of Classes VI to XI where the students enjoyed competing with each other. The creativity and expression of the participants was adjudged by the eminent personalities from the field of education, culture and Information Technology. One could see the remarkable way in which the students maximized their creative potential and exhibited their incredible innovation.

The Closing Ceremony of the Mega IT Fest on December 5, 2018 , was adorned with the illustrious presence of Mr. Rakshit Tondon, Advisor, Cyber Crime Cell , Moradabad , Up & Haryana Police Academy, who graciously agreed to be the Chief Guest for the occasion. He is also an eminent member of Gurgaon Police Safe Surfing Campaign and took two sessions with the students of classes VI to VIII and IX to XI to guide them on Cyber Safety Issues and concerns and how it can curb corruption . Ms. Anshuka Aneja , Deputy Director-IT   , BBGS blessed everyone with her radiant presence. The students presented a well orchestrated programme where there was a perfect amalgamation of Awareness Campaign , Product Launch , Dance presentation, Street Play  and Reminiscence- a panormic view of Cyberspaze 2018. The achievers of various IT Competitions were felicitated by Mr. Rakshit Tondon and Ms. Anshuka Aneja, Deputy Director IT, BBGS.

Mr. Rakshit Tondon heartily appreciated the efforts of  the students and school . He urged  the students to make right choices in life to keep themselves safe and sound with use of technology as a tool.
