Laboratories

Nothing has such power to broaden the mind as the ability to investigate systematically and truly all that comes under thy observation in life.

—Marcus Aurelius

The Amir Chand Memorial Science Block of the school is a three-storied structure comprising the state-of-the-art Physics Lab, Chemistry Lab, and Biology Lab. Apart from these, the school has a technologically advanced Maths Lab, Computer Lab, Language Lab, and Home Science Lab.

Physics Lab

The Physics Lab is a spacious hall with the latest technologies and equipment for physics experiments. It can accommodate 25–30 students at a time. The equipment is safe and child-friendly, and students conduct experiments up to the +2 level under the guidance of the facilitator. A strict standard of cleanliness is maintained by a vigilant Lab Assistant. Wearing lab coats is compulsory for students.

Chemistry Lab

The Chemistry Lab is a well-lit and well-ventilated hall that upholds the most exacting standards of hygiene and safety. It is furnished with cutting-edge technology and the latest safety gadgets. Students carry out their practical experiments in the Lab under the supervision of the instructor. Each period is monitored by the observant Lab Assistant.

Biology Lab

The Biology Lab is well-equipped with all the requisite specimens and safety measures. It is mandatory to adhere to all rules and regulations while dissection is carried out in the lab.

Maths Lab

The Mathematics Laboratory, named ‘Mathsmantra’, is a uniquely conceptualised and designed laboratory. It is equipped with a wide variety of models such as Number Meter, Number Apparatus, Cuisenaire Strips, Pocket Chart, Dominos, Fraction Disc, Watch Model, Spike Abacus, Geoboard, and many others to teach complex mathematical concept in an easy and child-friendly manner.

Students have taken the initiative to make models of different prisms and pyramids under the guidance of facilitators in an innovative endeavour to master the concepts. Such activities help develop and strengthen the awareness, appreciation, and enjoyment of mathematics among students.

The latest innovation being used in the Maths Lab is the ‘The Geometer’s Sketchpad’ software. It is a dynamic exploration tool that helps students of all ages understand the basic concepts of geometry and mathematics. The software addresses doubts and queries through vivid and illustrated demonstrations and colourful images that can be put into motion.

With this sketchpad, one can construct precise figures while preserving mathematical relationships. The dynamic interaction among elements can generate an infinite number of examples, which gives students the ability to explore, analyse, and understand mathematics easily.

Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL)

The school has the first fully-functional ATL in Gurugram, which is an initiative of the NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India), Government of India. The objective of the ATL is to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education and develop Higher Order Thinking Skills in students. ATL conducts regular workshops, mentoring sessions, and hands-on training activities for the students and the teachers of the host school as well as those of other neighbourhood schools.

Computer Labs

Information Technology education and digital competence are a vital aspect of the educational landscape today. The school provides computer classes for students right from Nursery up to Class XII. It has spacious and well-equipped Junior and Senior Computer Labs, with 44 and 53 PCs respectively, to cater to the needs of each child.

Language Lab

The school has a state-of-the-art Language Lab with the latest and most sophisticated software and resource material for Nursery to Class X. With a seating capacity of 40, the Language Lab is designed to enhance the speaking, listening, and reading skills of students through the various software-based modules and exercises. Apart from communication skills, the creative, critical, and analytical skills of the learners are also honed. Practice in phonetic skills is reinforced through a self-check system that ensures refinement in pronunciation, diction, and intonation.

Home Science Lab

Home Science is an interdisciplinary field of knowledge with a focus on Food and Nutrition, Fabric and Apparel Designing, Human Development, Resource Management, and Communication and Extension. Today, schools provide facilities to reinforce the theoretical knowledge of students through field training and research laboratories so that they can launch entrepreneurship programmes successfully. The school has an excellent faculty and a state-of-the-art Home Science Lab to train students in Food and Nutrition, Catering, Preservation, Ready-to-Cook/Serve Food, and Resource Management.

Special Room: Art/Sculpture

Aesthetic education is one of the most important areas in the holistic development of a child. It takes into consideration the child’s creative growth and intuitive perceptions, besides inculcating a deep and lasting appreciation and enjoyment of art.

The enormous Art-cum-sculpture Room is a creative hub that provides both space and opportunity for a wide range of activities including drawing, painting, poster/panel making, sculpting, and so on. Fine Arts classes are also conducted here under the supervision of the qualified facilitators for the students of Classes XI–XII who have opted for it as an optional subject.
